He set up shop on Harrison Street and became known for his fine workmanship and excellent customer service. Dreyfus’ employees included both men and women, who worked together to produce high-quality hammers and wrenches. Dreyfus died in 1848, but his son, Alfred Dreyfus, continued the business until 1883. During this time, Alfred also developed a unique style of hammer that is still used today by many smiths across North America. His hammers are known for their smooth surfaces and wide tolerances which allow them to produce accurate results even under heavy use.

Dickson later became an entrepreneur who built several successful restaurants including The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in downtown Chicago (now part of McCormick Place) and opened The Daily News building which served as headquarters for many newspapers before it was destroyed by fire in 1966. In 1931, Wernher von Braun founded Von Braun Manufacturing Company here - one of the earliest large employers in town! After World War II ended, industry slowly declined throughout much of America until it started to recover slightly during economic downturns beginning around 2000s through increased investment from outside sources like China that had entered intoprinted money that was backed by gold! Today,WestChicago remains an important center for commerce with heavy concentrations within the financial services sector as well as among healthcare companies such as HCA Healthcare Corporation (HCG)and CVS Caremark Inc.(CVS). West Chicago is a small town in Cook County, Illinois. The population was 9,754 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. West Chicago was first settled by the Potawatomi people in the 18th century. In 1871, it became part of the city of Chicago and remained so until 1959 when it became independent again as a result of a merger between neighboring townships. The history of WestChicago goes back to its earliest days as an Indian village which sat on high ground surrounded by forested land. The Potawatomi were one of several Native American tribes that lived in what is now Cook County before European settlement began around 1800. The area where WestChicago now stands was first populated by these indigenous people during the 17th century when French traders and explorers visited this region looking for new land to explore and trade with. The first Europeans to arrive in this area were Dutch traders who discovered this region while exploring the Mississippi River Valley in 1672-3. By 1760, French traders had also arrived here, and by 1770 they had established two settlements – La Salle on the north side of present-day Lake Michigan and Fort Dearborn on south side of present-day Lake Michigan – bothadjacent to what is now WestChicago today.. After years of exploration and trading, France granted Cadillac's claim to Illinois in 1784 following his victory over King George II at Quebec City during the Seven Years' War (1754-63). Cadillac located his holdings near modern WestChicago along Wacker Drive today.. In 1811, John Jacob Astor founded Astoria Bayou Company which traded goods with Native Americans upriver from LaSalle Settlement eastwards into what is now Indiana Territory.. This company later became known as The Pacific Railroad which transported goods from East Stroudsburg upriver to Chicago through current day WestChicago.. In 1861, during America's Civil War (1861-65), General James Revere reported seeing Confederate troops march into Chicagos Portage Bridge towardswhat is now Northwest Side at Cicero Avenue and North Milwaukee Street where he believed they would cross Buffalo Creek attempting to enter North Side via Mill Plain Road insteadof going through Jackson Park onto Lake Michigan.. According to some estimates only 10% or less of all Union Soldiers reached Midwest battlefields due largelyto food shortages caused by blockade imposed by Confederate states including Illinois .In 1865 after America's victory over Confederate States at Battle Of Pea Ridge west of Springfield IL referendum results showed that more than 60%of residents living within 1 mile radiusof any major city voted against joining forces with Great Britain resulting in independence for newly formed United States Of America
West Chicago was settled in 1847 by refugees from the Great Lakes area. The town was named for James West, a Representative from Illinois who helped to secure the west bank of the Chicago River for Illinois. In 1860, West Chicago became the county seat of Cook County.
