Warrenville, Illinois is a small town in the Kankakee County, Illinois, United States. It is located on the south side of the Chicago River and has a population of about 2,000 people. The city was founded in 1854 by John Arrington and named for him. Warrenville became an agricultural center during the late 19th century and was one of the first places in America to grow cottonseed. The town features a number of historically significant buildings including the First National Bank building (1890), United States Post Office (1914), and Cook County Courthouse (1927).

Warrenville, Illinois is a small town located in the northwest corner of Cook County, Illinois. The population was 3,865 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The town was first settled in 1837 by a group of English farmers who named their new community after Sir John Warren, 1st Baronet (1792-1872). The name "Warrenville" was given to the site because it lay on a bend in the Chicago River and could be seen from several miles away. In 1838, three families moved to Warrenville from Lisle, Illinois and began farming there. By 1840, about 50 people lived in Warrenville. In 1847, two brothers started a grocery store in Warrenville and soon became well known for their quality products and wide variety of groceries. They were followed by other stores until the early 1900s when local businesses went out of business due to competition from larger cities such as Chicago and Milwaukee. During World War II, Warrenville played an important role as a munitions manufacturing center with its large plant that produced ammunition for both the United States Navy and army. After the war ended, many jobs left the town which has resulted in decline over time. However, recent growth has led to renewed interest in Warrenville as a tourist destination with events like music festivals and family attractions being held here annually.

He called for both rifle stocks with 24 inches barrels being made out of mahogany so that they could “bear up against any chance collision” during battle. This proposal was not accepted by Congress as it would have required too much money and resources away from other military efforts in order to develop such an ambitious project. However, Captain Smith's idea would later become reality when Congregationalist militias started practicing artillery in America in 1795-96

Warrenville was founded in 1827 by Captain John Grimes and his wife, Mary. The town was named for General Philip Warren who had fought in the Mexican-American War. The first school in Warrenville was established in 1829. In 1835, Mr. and Mrs. Grimes donated land to build a church which was dedicated on October 20, 1836. The town continued to grow during the 1840s when several manufacturing companies were founded in the area including Jardine & Co., Dunlap & Sons, and Pemberton Bros. By 1850, the population of Warrenville had reached 1,500 people and it had a post office as well as a store and two mills. In 1852, the village of Warrenville became incorporated with a population of 10 people while the milltown remained under local control until 1870 when it became part of Chicago. During this time period, many businesses were opened along what is now Hwy 61 including Woolworth’s Store (1857), Griggs Coal Mines (1860), Armour Drug Store (1862), Franklin Hotel (1863), National Mutual Life Insurance Company (1865), Willcox Boot Manufacturing Company (1868) and First National Bank (1869). The growth of Chicago during this time period caused many residents to move away from Warrenville but some stayed until after World War II when they developed new homes or moved into newer subdivisions within the city limits. After World War II ended,Warrenville slowly declined due to joblessness and competition from other towns in Illinois that grew more populous during that time period such as Elgin Heights and Wheaton Hills according to historian Leah Goldfarb who wrote an article about Warrenvillette history for her website “Illinois History For All” back in 2009. Today there are only a few remaining buildings from earlier times such as the old Methodist Church which is still used for services occasionally and some farms located around town that offer agricultural tours during certain seasons In 1948, three young men – Joseph Meehan Jr., James Freytag Jr.,and Frank Wojciechowski – decided to start their own company called Lion’s Lair plumbers fame which later became one of America’s largest plumbing franchises with over 500 stores across North America According to journalist Allan Kozlowski who researched American Plumbing History for his book “Plumbers That Built America: AHistory Of American Plumbers From Benjamin Franklin To Bob Hope″ this group of plumbers likely changed things at home by teaching others how to do their job properly Today Lion’s Lair is considered one of America’s most significant plumbing companies with more than $2 billion in annual sales In 1971, Mayor Edward Jelinek announced plans for an expressway through downtownWarrenvillette which would have destroyed most of the original architecture dating back to 1830 while also opening up acres of property currently occupied by shopping mall complexes such as Sears etc . Later that year city officials decided against building any further expressways due to high costs associated with construction while also announcing plans for redevelopment which included creating new housing developments within walking distance of both libraries/schools as well as commercial opportunities This decision likely saved much valuable property within town center while also providing new jobs throughout downtown development . Today there are numerous restaurants and shops located close to both libraries/schools as well as various parking garages available nearby ready for visitors
