Warrenville is a small city in the Kane County metro area of Illinois, located about 20 miles west of Chicago. It has a population of about 60,000 people and was founded in 1836. Warrenville is a small, unincorporated community in Grundy County, Illinois, United States. The population was 853 at the 2010 census. It is located along Interstate 64 just west of the Otter Tail River. The first settler in Warrenville was John Swartzwelder, who arrived in 1836. He and his family built a cabin on a high bluff overlooking the river. In 1840, Swartzwelder's brother-in-law Jacob Dolan founded the town of Dolan on what is now the eastern edge of Warrenville. Dolan named his settlement after General Ulysses S. Grant, who had conquered Missouri during the American Civil War and become president of America after that conflict. Dolan's son-in-law Michael Collins laid out two blocks of land adjacent to what is now the southeastern border of Warrenville in 1857; this became known as Collins' Corner. The first post office was established at Collins' Corner on October 20, 1857; it was renamed Warrenville on January 1, 1861. In 1865, Andrew Johnson became President of the United States and ordered all US military forces withdrawn from Europe; this caused many people to flee from America for fear of persecution if they were caught up in war proceedings abroad. Some decided to move to new countries where they could begin anew; among these refugees were several families that moved to Warrenville from Illinois around 1870s: The Bushes (1871), The Martins (1872), and The Wassons (1875). The following year saw another large influx of refugees when Union troops burned down part of an old toll road near Springfield so that offroad drivers would have to use more difficult routes through rural areas instead – this caused yet another exodus as farmers abandoned their crops and homes in search for better opportunities overseas. This period also saw some establishment within Warrenvillians themselves: attorney George Brown started practicing law here in 1879 and businessman Amos Beall bought land here in 1886 which he developed into Beall Park later that same year; both men are considered founders of Warren Village today. A group led by Drayton Wightman purchased 10 acres (4 hectares) east of Collins' Corner in 1895 for $1 million dollars – this became Wightman Township four years later when it was organized into Grundy County according to state constitutional provisions dating back to 1792–93 Journalfield Township did not exist until 1798 when its boundaries changed due largely to internal political strife between rival factions within what would become Grundy County’s first government body – courthouse officials claimed jurisdiction over parts lying northward along I-64 but no real evidence exists linking those boundaries with any specific village or township nameakes today.– See full article: "Warrenvillette History"

In the 1970s, the mill was given to the Illinois State University campus and is now used as an adjunct faculty training center.
