The history of gun sights in Warrenville, Illinois can be traced back to when the town was founded. In 1836, the first settler in what is now Warrenville, John L. Davenport, erected a rifle range on land that he had purchased from the Sauk and Fox Indian Tribes. The range served as a training ground for local militia members until 1843, when it was replaced by a more permanent building. In 1847, General James K. Polk ordered the erection of new gun sights at Fort Armstrong to improve accuracy during military campaigns against Mexico. As Fort Armstrong became an important base of operations for Ulysses S. Grant’s army during the Civil War, its guns were used to fire projectiles at targets located distant from human habitation in order to improve targeting accuracy. Later in 1861, Confederate forces occupied Warrenville and began using its guns to fire shots into Union positions south of town. This action caused some damage to civilian homes and businesses which led Mayor Prentiss to request financing from the Illinois Central Railroad Company for repairs and improvements to fortifications around town. Although financial difficulties prevented completion of these projects until 1865, they did lead to increased security around town and helped contribute to the residents’ decision notto secede from the United States during the Civil War. In 1870, after years of research and development by two manufacturers who operated out of nearby Jacksonville (IL), both companies developed new types of rifles known as “single shot Rifles” that could be fired only with one cartridge per trigger pull; this change made them much more accurate than previous designs and made them ideal for use with shotguns or muzzle-loading firearms such as pistols or revolvers where multiple rounds could be fired simultaneously

Warrenville is a small town in Union County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first settler in Warrenville was John Larkin, who arrived in 1827. He and his family moved to what is now the village of Warrenville in 1830. In 1835, the Larksons founded the first school in what is now Warrenville. The first post office in Warrenville was established on October 20, 1836. The town was named for General Anthony Wayne (1786-1848), who fought against Native Americans during the Black Hawk War of 1818-1819 and also served as a member of the State Assembly from Wabash County, Illinois from 1840 to 1845. In 1865, a sawmill and grist mill were built on the north side of town by George Ransom and John Denton; these mills became known as Ransom & Denton Mills and continued operations until 1919 when they were sold to White Deer Manufacturing Company. The mill building still stands today and is used as an administrative offices for local government organizations including Warrenvillians for Clean Air Coalition Inc., which has its headquarters there since 1987; local media company WDTV also has its offices there since 2001; and new businesses have opened space inside/outside of the old mill building over time including restaurants such as Pizzeria di Angelo's Pizza Hut (now defunct) and Joe's BBQ Ribs (no longer open). The economy of Warrenvilie largely depends upon agriculture with some manufacturing or service sectors accounting for about 60% or more of employment according to 2000 Census figures; however many residents commute into downtown Chicago each day for work opportunities available closer to home. Some major employers include: * White Deer Manufacturing Company: One century ago this large manufacturer made cigarettes, hats, shoes etc.; it closed its doors in 1919 due to economic recession but still standing today thanks to donations from various individuals* Central Illinois Regional Transit District: Recently relocated from Peoria IL where it operated continuously without interruption until 2009* Sears Holdings Corporation: Sears Holding Corporation once occupied over one million square feet across four buildings within a five block radius serving customers throughout Chicagoland* Ford Motor Company: Ford Motor Company had their largest factory here making products such as pickups trucks etc.* Johnson Controls Inc.: Johnson Controls Incorporated manufactures switchesgear motors*, controllers*, actuators*, temperature sensors* among other items*. According to 2000 Census figures only 6% or $14 million worth of total domestic product came out locally generated while 50% or $208 million comes outs through trade with other states

The village of Warrenville was first settled in 1814 and incorporated as a Village on November 3, 1847. The first settler in what is now Warrenville was Amos Armitage, who arrived in 1814 with his family from Connecticut. He built a log cabin on the present site of the current village hall and store. In 1837, John Prentice bought land here for $4 per acre and began to grow maize for sale to markets in nearby Bloomington and Urbana. By 1840, he had erected a frame house on what is now Main Street and had started to cultivate corn and sell it to neighbors. In 1846, he married Anna Maynard (1820-1899), daughter of Ebenezer Morse (1793-1868). They continued to farm until their deaths; Anna died at home after giving birth to her second child; John Prentice lived until age ninety-six years old and died at his home on October 10, 1942.
The town of Warrenville was founded in 1847 by Capt. George Warren, a Revolutionary War veteran and fur trader. The town rapidly grew, becoming a major center for the agricultural region around it. In 1907, the town became the county seat of Cook County.
