Warrenville is a small town in Illinois, located about 25 miles north of Chicago. The population was 5,574 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Rockford Metropolitan Statistical Area. The firstguns were locks, which were used to keep cattle and other animals in their pens. In 1849, John Fitch patented a design for a gun lock that could be opened with one hand by using a staff or an arm from behind. This lock became known as the Fitch Lock. In 1892, the American Lock Company introduced a new type of gun lock called the Warren Lock. This lock was designed to prevent unauthorized access to guns kept in storage areas such as factories and warehouses. In 1922, National Firearms Association (NFA) member Edward Condon developed what is now known as the Condon Gun Latch system. This system allows owners of shotguns and pistols to secure their guns against theft by simply inserting them into a locking device that projects out from under the gun's barrel

Warrenville is a small town in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The population was 5,272 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The community is known for its agricultural products and its annual pumpkin festival. The first settler in Warrenville was Levi Coffin from Maryland who arrived in 1814. He built a cabin on the east side of the creek where he later died. Moses and his family moved to Warrenville in 1827 from Tennessee, settling on a farm that still stands today near the intersection of First Street and Elm Street. In 1835, General James Kapp established a military post here with four cannons and forty-eight men under Captain John Dorman as commander. In 1861, when Abraham Lincoln was elected President of the United States, he chose Warrenville as his home town because it had been selected by him as one of five sites to be surveyed for an experimental new railway system called "the Lincoln Highway." The townspeople voted to incorporate as a village in 1862 but were denied permission by local authorities to build their own Central School until 1865 because they did not have any money to spare. The earliest residents organized themselves into two groups: those who wanted to stay single (the " Single Ladies" or "Potters") and those who wanted to move closer together (the "Groups"). They pooled their resources together and bought land north of Center Street between Elm and Michigan Streets for $5 per acre ($140 per square mile). When word got out about this offer, other farmers started coming over too - within months, there were over 100 families living in Warrenville! By 1865, the central school had been built and membership had grown so large that they began electing officers - first merchants George Wirtz and Jeremiah McCarthy became trustees; then Drs John Houghton (west side), Edward Holmes (east side), Isaac Noyes (north end) - all men! In 1868 they raised money through sales of goods brought across the river into Illinois from Wisconsin Territory – this time we made good on our promise! On July 4th 1870 – just three years after incorporation – Friends Meeting House donated land west of Center Street for what would become Park Gardens; nearby Griggs Chapel donated land east of Elm for another social hall named Harmony Hall; both buildings still stand today! Warrenville was founded in 1824 by John Brown and his family as a small town on the banks of the Illinois River. The township was named for General Andrew Johnson, who served as its first postmaster. It grew rapidly during the early years of the American Revolution, with stores and homes being built along both sides of the river. By 1800, Warrenville had a population of over 200 people. In 1825, John Brown and his brothers erected a large frame house in what is now known as the Brown House building. The house served as their home until they sold it in 1853 to James Prentice. Prentice built a new home on the property which he called "The Gables". He continued to use it until his death in 1904. From this point on, it became known as "The Gables" estate." In 1865, Warrenville became part of Chicago when Illinois was divided into two states. When Chicago was incorporated as a city, it included Warrenville within its boundaries. In 1947, there were only 100 people living in Warrenville when Mayor Ezra Storey founded Stroudsburg Community College here in response to local demand for quality education opportunities for working class citizens from neighboring townships like West Dundee and North Lawndale."
