Factory plants were built in Tinley Park between 1915 and 1917 when metal foundry technology advanced rapidly; these plants produced drums, coins, badges, lightbulbs and other products for Sears Roebuck & Company and other retail outlets throughout Chicagoland until World War II when they turned their attention towards war production such as munitions factories or aircraft carriers
