The first settler in Tinley Park was John Fitch who arrived from Englewood, New Jersey in 1871 along with his wife Emma and their two children Willa and Jesse Fitch. At first they only used homes that had been donated to them by friends or family members but eventually started leasing land for themselves and other citizens began moving into the town from all over Illinois including Decatur, Terre Haute, Elgin, Rockford, Springfield and Streator Estates among others In 1898 Samuel Morse opened a grocery store at 327 Neches Avenue which quickly became one of Tinley Park's most popular businesses In 1903 when it became clear that electric streetcars would soon make travel through the city much easier than walking or riding horsebackan act that helped stimulate development around City Hall Square there followed an enormous amount of construction taking place right around City Hall Square including new housing developments (the Morse-Lambert House now occupied by Pfeffer Law Offices) which were designed by architects Arthur Cope & Edward Lamanna There were also several large commercial buildings erected at this time such as Armoury House built for Julius Rosenwald who served as president of Sears Roebuck & Co . Tinley Park is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States, located on the border of Cook and Will County. The population was 11,883 at the 2010 census. Tinley Park is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The village site was first settled by Andrew Johnson in 1827 as part of a larger move from Green Bay to what is now Tinley Park Township. It became a municipality in 1875 and a city in 1912. Tinley Park was named for General James K. Polk (1846-1926), President of the United States from November 4, 1884 to August 3, 1888. In 1916 it merged with neighboring Streator to form Tinley Park-Streator City Corporation. The merger resulted in an economic decline after World War I; however, growth resumed following World War II when tin mining activity increased in adjacent Cook County and Michigan led by J P Morgan began investing there again. The current community was platted as a township on February 14, 1827 by Andrew Johnson while he served as U.S. Representative from Wisconsin's 1st congressional district which included all of what is now Kane County and most of modern Lake County except for some scattered tracts near Joliette and Batavia (now Elgin). On March 12, 1830 Abraham Lincoln issued his famous "Halt! or be Halt'd" order ordering American troops not to fire upon Native Americans who had attempted to cross over the Canadian River into America east of Fort Wayne Indiana during what would become known as the Black Hawk War which ended with victory for American Indians over British forces under General Anthony Wayne On May 5th 1865 Union Major General John Mott organized 1 corps under Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer at Pittsburg LandingKansas Territory duringlos Angeles Campaign - this event helped bring about California's incorporation into the Union as well as helping lead to further Civil Rights Movement advances such as Brown v Board of Education
