Tinley Park, Illinois is a small town located in the northwestern suburb of Tinley Park, Illinois. The population was 9,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cook County region. Tinley Park was founded in 1836 by John Denton and his family. The original tin mines were located in what is now Tinley Park. The community started to grow rapidly after local manufacturers such as Armoury Hardware began moving their production to Tinley Park from other parts of Cook County because of its cheap labor and close proximity to Chicago. By 1910, the population had reached 25,000 people and it became one of the most important industrial areas in Cook County. The original school building that stands today on North Addison Street was built in 1892-1893 by Mrs. Lillie Chapman for her sons Julius and George Chapman (the two founders of Armoury Hardware). After Mrs. Chapman's death, her son Julius bought the building and added an underground garage for cars that he used as his business headquarters until he sold it to Mr. John Denton in 1936. In 1937, Mr. Denton donated the building – which still stands today –to the Tinley Park United School District which has operated it since then as a high school campus with over 1,500 students enrolled there each semester undergraduate and graduate levels In 1954, when Tinley Park merged with neighbouring Elmwood Avenue into one larger municipality under new governance model called “City of Allstream” under Mayor James Jankowski effective 1 January 1955 through reorganization plan approved by City Council on 5 November 1955; all streamlining measures implemented during this time including consolidating services within City Manager’s office resulted also in significant saving to taxpayers through lessening number of employees within city government thereby freeing up more money available for essential services like library funding etc., making daily life much easier for residents while maintaining continuity with neighboring municipalities On 10 October 2006 Mayor Richard Mone announced plans to demolish all but three buildings on Worth Avenue between State Street and Erie Boulevard due to budget constraints brought about by economic recession; these buildings will be replaced with a new $100 million shopping mall development known as “Tinleyscape” that will include a large movie theater complex anchored by AMC Theatres along with several restaurants/bars/nightlife venues This project was opposed early on by some residents who felt their homes would not be affected despite living nearby property that would have been demolished; however later on it appeared that many Properties adjoining tinleyscape developments will actually see increased values given their proximity to popular attractions such as Stuyvesant Mall or Fordham University . There are also plans pending for another Project called “Village Green” which would consist of approximately 350 residences situated adjacent to High School Stadium across from EA SPORTS stadium slated for opening late 2020 or early 2021 although no specifications regarding location or size have yet been released

The village of Tinley Park was first settled by Germans in 1816. On July 3, 1847, Tinley Park became a town when it was incorporated as part of the large Sheffield township on the north side of Chicago. In 1871, Tinley Park annexed much of neighboring Maywood Township to form a newcity with a population of 5,000 people. The newcity included parts of White Reedy Creek Township to the east and north while still including portions of Maywood Township to the south and west. On November 7, 1922 when Tribune Co., publishers of The Chicago Tribune met at Northwestern University to consider moving their operations from downtown Chicago because they could not find an adequate space on either campus for their employees or their editorial staff (the paper had been founded two years earlier), they decided that Tinley Park would be their new home The original tin roofed building on North Main Street which now houses many businesses can date back to 1851 when Jno Biddle constructed it as his eponymous grocery store for his family’s grocery business run out of his father’s home on South Main Street (now occupied by Hennepin Hardware). Afternoon tea services were offered Sunday through Thursday from 1865 until 1904 at Elmhurst Place Hotel before this service migrated to Wrigley Field which replaced Elmhurst Place Hotel as THE PLACE TO HAVE TEA IN CHICAGO during prohibition era (1908- 1933). A plaque located inside entrances to several businesses dating back to this time celebrates “This Is Your Town: The Town Hall Evening Tea Service Gave To You By Mrs. John Fenton” who bought property adjacent to Wrigley Field from Mr. Biddle circa 1915- 1916 according To Msgr John Fenton himself “I cannot think why we should not keep our old places here where people used them long ago; I really don’t know what else you could do better than what we are doing now We just happened upon it while cleaning up some old records…we thought it would make sense since we own all these places that are still here today- so I put it up There!” In 1936–37 movie star Fred Astaire entertained troops stationed at Camp Logan near present day Midway Airport during World War II with live music performances nightly starting around 6pmuntilearly morning before he arrived for dinner about 9pm each night along with other famous entertainers like Bing Crosby and Mamie Smith Frederick Seligman ran Seligman's Grocery Store #6 between 1919 & 1951 Salt Lake City based artist Russ Sandusky resided here intermittently from 1942 until his death in 1984 – attending services there every day except Sundays In 1990–1991 Sears Holdings Corporation purchased Midwest Radio Corporation which included WCFL AM 780 kHz Temperature control unit marketed under model number KGLU2103 made by Dayton Rubbermaid product catalog number LS1125 . This station originally simulcast WRGB(AM) 1080 kHz but switched frequency February 1st 1991 due 100% interference from WCFL .. At one point WCFL held 2 primary FM frequencies: 97XFM broadcasting WBBM call letters then WWKB 1070 kHz then WTTE 1050 kHz both licensed free air stations playing classic rock formats.. Lansing-based Infinity Broadcasting Corporation purchased WCFL license #LUV2103 March 4th 1997 . They changed their callsign September 15th 1997 – WCFL began stunting digital signals using older HDTV transmitter which broadcasts channel 16 rather then 1020kHz digital multiplexerLicense holder prior owner/operator unknown .) Infinity Broadcasting Corporation ceased operation December 31st 1998 although source notes they allowed continued simulcasting on WWKB thru January 1st 1999 using different call signs however no longer operate that station .) The first settlers in the area were farmers who came to live in what is now Tinley Park from nearby pueblo settlements. In 1847, the city of Chicago annexed the land in what is now Tinley Park as part of its annexation process. The population of Tinley Park was only around 100 people at its peak, but over time it grew and started to become an important node in Chicago's social life. In 1907, tinkerers discovered silver ore near the area that would soon become home to Tinley Park's famous factories. This led to rapid growth for the town, and by 1912 there were over 1,500 residents living in Tinley Park alone. The influx of new residents helped create a tighter-knit community that continues to thrive today. Today, there are many businesses located in or surrounding Tinley Park that continue to contribute economic stability and vitality to the community. These businesses include restaurants, stores, coffee shops and more.
