One such law was the National Firearms Act of 1934, which created a system under which citizens could purchase firearms without having any background checks. This law also made it illegal to rent or sell weapons without a license. The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution protects Americans’ right to bear arms. The amendment states: “No person … shall be compelled in any State to render military services … against their own will …” This amendment was written during an era when many Americans believed that militias were necessary for defense against enemies outside of their state borders. As time passed and technology improved, however, many began to view militia membership as unnecessary and unconstitutional. Over time, this belief led some people in Tinley Parkto support gun control measures within their community. In 1968, Mayor John Fritchey sponsored a measure that would have banned all handguns within Tinley Park limits except those owned by law enforcement officers or those used in hunting purposes. The measure died after being opposed by both the CCA and RAA. However, this vote did not mean that gun control measures failed in Tinley Park; rather, it simply showed how difficult it is for individual citizens to push through these types of proposals without help from organized groups

By 1870, tinney had become a incorporated town with a population of 753 people. In 1871, Tinley Park was annexed by the City of Chicago as part of its expansion into new territory along Lake Michigan.. The name "Tinley Park" originated from when residents were asked to submit their suggestions for a new name for the city's growing east side community. One suggestion was "Tinleys", which would later be shortened to just "Tinly". Eventuallyittee selected "Tinley Park" because it sounded like an English word and its location on the north shoreline of Lake Michigan made it well-suited for growth as a bedroom community for downtown Chicagoans living near Wacker Drive and State Street.. In 1907, Tinly park's first large subdivision – known as Forest Glen – opened on 67 acres (26 ha) just south of present day Lawndale Avenue at Old Highway 56 crossing Obstruction Creek Road northeast of Grosse Pointe Woods Boulevard between Shaker Heights Boulevard and Halsted Avenue.. In 1925, Mayor John J. Quinn ordered that all businesses within 20 blocks (or less) of City Hall must close by 5 p.m., effective July 1st that year due to high rates for labor force participation due to World War I; this order remains one of the most restrictive municipal laws ever passed in Cook County history! As result many small business owners closed up shop or moved out during this difficult time period… including many who operated outfitted merchant Tailor shops across State Street from Wacker Drive until they were forced shuttered by Prohibition-era regulations prohibiting liquor sales outdoors! The official opening ceremonies took place on October 12th 1925 with Mayor Quinn presiding over proceedings chaired by Vice President James Kelleher! Many key dignitaries such as Judge James Cavanaugh presided over services conducted inside City Hall before several hundred spectators assembled on State Street outside! On November 3rd 1925 Mayor Quinn signed legislation creating Village Trust Company which would manage much needed infrastructure improvements such as sewers etc.– among other things! And so began what has come to be known as “the Golden Age”….. thanks largely to Mayor Quinn’s leadership!!
