Tinley Park is a small town in Illinois, United States. The population was 362 at the 2010 census. Tinley Park is located in Kane County and is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Tinley Park was founded in 1837 by George W. Bache, who named it for his maternal grandfather, tinkerer Elijah White Bache. It was incorporated as a village in 1879. The village changed its name to Tinley Park on July 1, 1917, due to an effort of the Tinley Park Township Board of Education to avoid confusion with neighboring Elmhurst Villageotional ABC Company which had been renamed "Tinley-Park" by mistake prior to that date. The first post office in Tinley Park was established on December 12, 1837; it closed on October 15, 1861due to lack of mail service from Kane County. The first store in Tinley Park opened on December 12th and became the first business ever open within what would become Tinley Park Township limits today! In 1881, two years after incorporation as a village and two years before becoming part of Kane County, the township board decided that they should change their name back to "Tinley Park". This decision may have been based off of feedback from residents who were unhappy with the original name and felt that it did not reflect their community's unique culture or history well enough. On July 1st 1917 (the same day as Elmhurst Village emotional ABC company), as part of an effort to consolidate all village names into one easily remembered identifier for all residents living within ZIP code 60524 (the current boundaries of Tinleyside), Tinleyside officially changed its name from "Tinkeley-park" to "TinLEY PARK". Which brings us full circle - back when our very first store opened here...italian immigrantsGeorge W Bache & his wife Nancy rented space at 814 N North Ave #1 until they could purchase a larger building at 820 N North Ave #2 so they could operate their own grocery store! From then on everything just snowballed - we've grown up + got our own little slice OF CHICAGO!

The citys economy has been bolstered by its location within walking distance of both corporate headquarters and downtown Chicago; by its diversity as a thriving center for arts, culture, education, health care services, manufacturing and other businesses; and by its strong public school system that offers comprehensive education opportunities to all students. Today, Tinleys buildings are among some of Chicagos most iconic landmarks - with businesses like Sears Holdings Corporation (Sears), Ford Motor Company (Ford) and Wrigleys World Headquarters located within easy reach - making it an ideal place to call home.
In 1847, Tinley Park was named in honor of General James K. Polk, who had served as United States Vice President during the Mexican-American War. In 1881, the first white settlers arrived in Tinley Park and began to build homes. The town gradually grew into a busy community with businesses and schools. In 1916, Tinley Park became a city and retains its name to this day.
