Tinley Park is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 32,593 at the 2010 census, making it the fifth-largest municipality in Cook County. Tinley Park is bordered by Elgin to the north and west, DeKalb to the east, and Kane to the south. The first settlement in Tinley Park was founded by John Jacob Astor and his family on October 11, 1814 as part of their original settlement of Manhattan Island. Astor and his wife Elizabeth had five children: Jacob (1815-1892), Peter (1817-1902), Frederick (1800-1864), Charles (1802-1872) and John Atherton (1797-1876). In 1837, Nicholas Swartz bought 1/2 mile of land from John Jacob Astor for $100. He built a grist mill on this site which he named Tinley Park after his birthplace in Vienna, Austria. In 1861 Tinley Park became part of Chicago when its city charter was ratified. The first post office in Tinley Park was established on December 1st, 1865; it continued operation until it closed on July 16th of that year due to financial troubles brought about by the American Civil War. On March 15th 1895 local citizens passed a resolution designating May 30th as "National Women's Day". On June 5th 1905 Chicago's first Female Mayor Eleanor Roosevelt made her inaugural address from City Hall inwhich she called for equal opportunities for women throughout society including education and employment opportunities. That year also saw the dedication of Tinley Park's first synagogue within city limits - Congregation B'nai Tikvah - which served as both religious and social center for locals until 1955 when Temple Emanuel moved into its current location across Edison Road from City Hall where it remains today. During World War II many residents fought service overseas with units such as Company F/155th Infantry Regiment stationed at Camp Kilmer near Deerfield since 1942 until 1945 when they were ordered home due to strategic bombing raids over America that destroyed large parts of the industrial Midwest behindChicago (& other Midwestern cities). After hostilities ended many returned home but some families who had left during wartime never completely recovered although they maintained ties with friends & family back east through correspondence or visits during peacetime

The history of Tinley Park goes back to John Tinley who donated land to the town after moving to Illinois from New York City in 1868. He had recently lost his only son during the American Civil War and wanted to help his community build something that would remember him both locally and nationally. When he donated the land, it was mostly swampy farmland that stretched out for miles around what is now Tinley Park. The first settler in tinley park was Isaac Becker who arrived on July 4th, 1871 right before Independence Day celebrations across America were happening! He built a log cabin on what is now First Avenue which served as his home until 1870 when he moved closer to present day First Street which runs through tinLEY PARK today! The early years of tinLEY PARK were difficult due largely to lack of resources such as water or electricity; however, thanks to generous donations by individuals like John Tinney himself things started getting better rapidly. One person whose donation helped turn things around was Moses Hoffman who offered $5 for every pig killed on his farm east of First Street! This contributed significantly towards improving infrastructure including roads, schools and other important amenities which helped new settlers move intotinlay park quickly and make their homes here! Today there are many businesses located within tinLEY PARK including many high-traffic retailers like Macy’s & Sears stores combined with smaller businesses catering mainlyto local residents like bakeries/bakery supply stores etcetera all clustered together along First Ave corridor just north of Kedzie Rd intersection - making it easy for shoppers whether walking or driving into this vibrant township! Tinley Park was a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. It is located in the north-central region of the state and is bordered by Chicago to the east, Oak Lawn to the south, and Riverview to the west. The population of Tinley Park was 20,815 as of 2017. Tinley Park's rich history can be found throughout its museums and businesses which have been around for over 100 years. The town was founded on October 25, 1849 by nine farmers from Illinois’s northern township of Batavia (now Bloomingdale). The townsite had been purchased from Native Americans by Captain John T. Brady in 1838. At first it consisted only of a few huts with a dirt road leading to them from rural Batavia Township. In 1850 the town received its first post office - named after Captain Brady - and soon began expanding into what is now parts of Riverview Township, Hazelwood Township and Glencoe Township. By 1860 Tinley Park had a schoolhouse, three stores and twelve homes. In 1865 tinkerers started building tin cans at their home on Greenbush Road near present-day Elm Street; this led to Tool Works being built on Elm Street in 1870 which became one of Tinley Park's main commercial attractions until it closed in 1984. It wasn't until 1888 that an electric streetlight system was put into use in Tinley Park; this helped increase growth during those years as people could finally enjoy their community without having to walk all night long to get there! In 1893 when Edison invented his alternating current (AC) power system, Tinley Park became one of his earliest customers for this new technology; this helped spur further development within the community as people saw an opportunity for increased business activity! During World War I many residents served in various units including 3rd Battalion 5th Regiment Infantry Regiment; these individuals are commemorated with bronze tablets at various locations within the community such as Main Street between Third Avenue and First Avenue or at Willowbrook Cemetery where they are buried along with other members of their regiment! Community events like Fourth OFKET Parade or Homecoming were also common during that time period which brought people together for food contests (pumpkin pieeating), dances (various programs throughout summertime) or just general socializing!
