Tinley Park is a village in north-central Illinois, United States. The population was 362 at the 2010 census. Tinley Park is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The Village of Tinley Park was organized on July 15, 1892 from what were then two small towns in Kane County: Tinley and Beloit. It became one of the twenty-six municipalities in Cook County when it was created on February 1, 1896. On November 24, 1907, Tinley Park annexed the neighboring town of Arlington Heights. In 1959, two schools within the Village were closed because of low enrollment and lack of funds for new construction; these closures left much of Tinley Park largely without a school system until 1974 when a new high school building was built and dedicated with community funds. That year also marked the first time that water softeners were installed in all homes within the Village limits. In 1984, Mayor John Jarry proposed annexing Hinsdale to make it a single municipality with more services available to residents there as well as help fund an expansion plans for Tinley park which ultimately failed due to opposition by Hinsdale residents who felt they had been abandoned by their City Manager John Jarry during his tenure as mayor (Jarry later served as CEO of Hyatt Hotels Corporation). On January 1, 2006, management announced that they would be closing eight local businesses effective February 1st due to declining sales and rent prices in light of economic recession conditions throughout most Midwestern U.S towns/cities experiencing similar trends including Tinley Park's sharp decline since 2000%. The closure affected about seventy employees out of a total workforce size between seventeen full-time jobs plus ten part-time positions at three businesses impacted by closureindexed staff cuts totaling 123 layoffs across eleven departments or 63% reduction from current levels despite increased spending on advertising and marketing communications initiatives over that same period ($236K vs $123M budget) underscoring general reductions across all types business entities associated with Recessionary Conditions around this time including declines in tourist visitation (-10% yr−1), manufacturing (-15%) & service (+5%). All impacted businesses are locally owned with majority employee ownership thereby preserving job security following company closings even though many customers have relocated away during difficult times yielding some "leased" space nearby unaffected by redundancies

Tinley Park became a municipality on December 3rd, 1889 when it merged with neighboring full-time Township of Palatine.
