Ammunition production continued to grow throughout the 1800s, with numerous factories located throughout Illinois. In 1907, Armour Ammunition Company began manufacturing ammunition here in what is now the company’s corporate headquarters building on State Street. The company would continue to produce firearms and other munitions until its closure in 2009. Throughout much of Chicago’s early years, arms traffic passed through Taylorville for cannonballs and shot needed for both military engagements and everyday urban warfare. ThisWeapons activity took place at three locations: on State Street adjacent to the post office; near Third Avenue south of Cicero Road; and at Lockwood Arsenal west of Interstate 90. These armories were used principally for rifle powder (shot) production as well as artillery ballistics research and development during the Civil War period. After 1861, when Union forces moved into Springfield from states such as Kentucky and Missouri, local arsenals became key storage sites for munitions necessary for this new conflict. At one point Armory Ammunition Company produced more than 2 million rounds of ordnance per day! One of Hutchins' sons, John Minton Hutchins (1825-1912), founded the city of Quincy, Illinois in 1853 as one of the first incorporated municipalities in that state. The town's popularity led to its incorporation as a village on November 3, 1894 by an act passed by the General Assembly under Chapter 714 of the statutes of that time. On Tuesday night September 5th 1914 residents of Appleton Township along with residents from other adjacent townships met at State Road 506 for social purposes when it became apparent that due to World War I hostilities no gas had been forthcoming for lighting purposes within their respective villages so they held an informal election to elect officers for 1965-1966 and 1966-1967 township meetings were held with citizens voting through nominations rather than personally attending meetings; this system continues until present day when all township elections are held open to all qualified voters regardless of residency or party affiliation In 1933 President Franklin D. Roosevelt established "National Industrial Recovery Act" which created "Welfare Department" headed by Harry Hopkins who organized work relief programs known as "Hoover's New Deal". The development of infantry weapons led to the introduction of armour which caused artillery pieces to become less effective at hitting targets at a distance while armoured troops became vulnerable to cavalry charges which rendered armies almost powerless against their opponents. During World War I advances in technology led to new calibers including 5x57mm NATO round designed specifically for anti-aircraft use; however rifle bullets continued being used until 1925 when they were replaced by shotgun rounds in all European countries except Germany where rifle bullets still remained in use until 1945 (in Germany only shotguns were currently being used as ammo). Shotgun rounds are still popular today as training ammo for police officers across many countries around the world due their low recoil compared to other rounds capable of inflicting serious damage on human beings e.g distant battlefields
