The history of firearms in Swansea, Illinois can be traced back to 1836. The first gun that was ever manufactured in the town was a shotgun.
Swansea is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 11,574 at the 2010 census. Swansea is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. It is located on the south bank of the Wabash River and bordered by Herrin to the east, Beecher to the north, Mount Greenwood to the west, and Park Ridge to the south. The main shopping district in Swansea is called "The Strip" and it includes two large malls- One anchored by Sears and JCPenney and one anchored by Macy's. Other smaller retailers include Marshall Fields, Dollar General, etc. Swansea was founded in 1839 as a result of a junction of two Indiana rivers which then ran through what are now parts of Cook County: Clinton Creek runs down from Swansea into Cookstown Township while Beaver Creek flows through Swansea into Rockford Township. In 1840 John Hargrave donated land for a village which he named Swansea after himself; it became an incorporated town in 1859 when all its lands were combined into one municipality under Act No. 611 of that year. The first post office opened in Swansea on December 12th, 1841; it continued operation until May 7th, 1865 due to political changes that took place during those years (the original post office had been moved from Quincy to Swanzey because Quincy refused to open an office within its limits). On July 5th 1860 Wales Atherton donated land northeast of present day Welsh Road for what would become known as "Atherton Park", which served as both a public park and residential area until 1925 when it was annexed into Swansea proper (see also: Welsh Road). In 1881 John Pappas gifted 2 acres (0 hectares) near present day Welsh Road for $1 with plans to create a community center/library/school; however no such structure ever came about although Pappas' donation did serve as inspiration for later developments including Holy Cross Catholic High School which opened doors in 1926 adjacent to present day Welsh Road Bluffs Shopping Center. In 1893 Julius Rosenwald donated $50000 towards construction of what would become Western Illinois University; however this gift never amounted to anything more than an insurance policy because Illinois statehood didn't come about until 1896! Even though many people may not know it today but there actually exists another small community called 'South Wales' just northwest of modern day Welsh Rd., just outside Ofrani Village limits - this community has only recently started being reported online so I'll add their info too! South Wales usedly consisted mostly of farmer families who raised chickens & pigs pretty much round their house & shared milk with other villagers - BUT thanksgiving weekend some **huge** family hosted 50+ people over Christmas eve & had eggs benedict @&@ THANKSGIVING feasts galore! (& yes we even got our own tree!) So if you're looking for evidence that rural America HAS NOT fallen apart since prohibition ended let me remind you that *southwestWI* still has some really cool things going on :)

Swansea is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 3,711 at the 2000 census. Swansea has been attached to the city of Chicago since 1997. In that year, the City of Chicago annexed all of the towns east of its current borders and merged them into one large municipality - with Swansea as its capital. The first residents in Swansea were Swedish immigrants who came to work on a farm near present day Sheffield Avenue and Erie Street in 1847. Swanville was platted in 1853 by John Dupleix and named for his birthplace, Sweden. The community grew slowly until around 1900 when it began to experience an influx of Irish Catholics from County Wexford due to lack of other opportunities in the area. In 1907, Swansea became part of the new city of Chicago; however, it retained its own government with a mayor and a select committee responsible for many important aspects of life including education and public works. In this time period there also existed a thriving dairy industry which contributed greatly to Swansea's economy during this time frame. In 1949, following years of growth within Chicago's boundaries, Mayor Richard J. Daley announced plans for annexation into the city proper - making Swansea an integral part of Chicago through annexation once again! This move quickly created tension between both municipalities as they struggled with how best to serve their respective populations while still maintaining some degree of autonomy/independence; however, this eventually resolved itself as both cities amalgamated into one larger entity known today as Chicago (though there are still several independent communities located within each). Due to its location withinChicago’s central business district – sandwiched between two very large metropolises – Swansea experienced significant economic prosperity throughout much OF Today’s historyCities have always played an important rolein shaping American culture but until recently they tended to do so at their own expense or through acquisition by other municipalities which often had less concern for cultural diversity than did their former home state or metropolitan area counterparts
