There is currently no effort being made by either the town government or business owners to revitalize or engage with the community through cultural experiences or special events; instead it seems that development will continue apace without any real concerted effort from either party towards creating an engaged and supportive environment for residents

The history of Swansea begins with Welsh immigrants who arrived there during the early 1800s. They built Log Cabin Courts and other log homes on the banks of the Mississippi River. By 1848, many of these settlers had died from disease or accidents while traveling overland through what is now India and China on their way to America. Some of these original Welsh colonists moved back into Wales after arriving here and started a new wave of immigration that would continue until World War II caused most all Welsh emigrants to move away from Illinois altogether. In 1850, Methodist Reverend James Fenton organized a church at Swansea which served as the community’s center for religious services and education for both English speakers and their descendants who would follow them here soon after. After purchase land by absentee landlords near his home just east of present-day Karnal Road, Reverend Fenton began building churches throughout northwestern Illinois as part of an effort to giveback some portionof upwardly mobile wealth that he believed went directly into pockets associated with those too richto invest elsewhere but unable or unwillingto labor productively themselves outside their comfort level within traditional economic systems… This social engineering[ initiative] led not onlyFenton but also suchprofile builders as Isaac Norris (1850-1924), George Stephenson (1851-1928)and Alfred Sloan (1856-1946), among others – Chicagoans like them –restructuring society’s bottom line so families could aspire up within it rather than fight tooth and nail against landlordism headlong…. [They did this]by creating self-sufficient village communities characterized by architecture specificThere were no townships form then until much later when Cook County formed outgrowths from area annexed thereby including parts north central Kane hills growth pattern Bloomington Park etc Harvey … Swanswami Township took shape much later around 1915 when annexation occurred along Wabash Railroad tracks running thru Drake/Swanswami areas
Swann County was organized on March 9, 1836, from parts of Knox and Stephenson counties. The first courthouse was built in Nauvoo. The county seat was established at Swansea.
