By 1915, all major American gun companies hadTarget guns available on their product lines again. However, World War I caused a shortage of steel target plates so Winchester created wooden models which they nicknamed "Tower Guns." These models fired silver balls at up to 25 yards with some having an adjustable iron sights allowing shooters to adjust their aim

Streator, Illinois is a town in La Salle County, Illinois, United States. The population was 7,354 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The village of Streator was incorporated as a town on November 15, 1907. The first settlers in what is now Streator were two families who came to this area from Maryland in 1827. They named their new settlement after George Washington and his family. In 1851 the General Assembly passed an act which designated La Salle County as a place for white men only and ordered all German immigrants out of the county by January 1, 1852. The original town site was located on the east side of present-day Cicero Avenue between State Street and White Road (now known as Plainfield Avenue). When La Salle County was organized on March 3, 1867 its boundaries changed slightly and Streator became part of it because it lay within both its original counties’ limits. On December 12, 1898 an act providing for township organization within La Salle County was approved by the General Assembly; accordingly Streator Townshipwas organized on that date with a population of 705 residents On November 15th 1907 when municipal incorporation into Chicago occurred all villages within CookCounty were annexed into Chicagos suburbs making little difference to either citys demographics or services available to their citizens
The town of Streator, located in the northwest corner of Illinois, was founded by a group of German immigrants in 1812. The town growth was slow until the mid-19th century when new railroad construction and development brought new residents and businesses to the area. In 1854, Streator became one of the towns in Rock Island County, Illinois. The name change came about because at that time all of Rock Island County was part of Minnesota. In 1870, Streator received its own post office which remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1916.
