In 1843, they erected a log schoolhouse which served as the primary educational institution for the town until 1949. In 1865, the Beechers donated land to form what is now known as Park Township, which included much of what is now Streamwood. In 1885, during World War I, Streamwood became an airfield used by American forces for training purposes. After hostilities ended in 1918, the airfield was abandoned and remains undeveloped today. However, it has been used historically as a storage area for local businesses and homes. Today,Streamwood is a thriving community with over 1,500 residents living on over 100 acres of land that includes several golf courses and other recreational amenities.
