The arms dealership continued to grow through the years, selling firearms, munitions, and other military equipment to civilians and military personnel throughout Illinois. In 1957, Streamwood Armory was sold to Lewis & Clark Arms Corporation and continues to be a major armaments dealer in Illinois today.

Streamwood was founded in 1825 by John and Anna Hall. The first post office was established in 1826. In 1830, Nathaniel King purchased land east of the village and built a cabin there. The first school opened in 1835 and was taught by Miss Jane Goodrich. A second school opened in 1840. In 1844, George Stephenson donated land to the village for a public square and court house. The first store opened in 1847 on Main Street with Wm Henschel as owner and manager. In 1850, Stephen Downey donated land to the village for an addition to the square that would house his grocery store and millinery shop called "Downey's". This addition was destroyed by fire on October 20, 1865; however, downsized plans for it were resurrected soon after and it became known as "Downey's Mill" until its demolition in 1978.
