Scope mounts have been in use for over a century and are still in use today. Scope mounts were invented by Charles Steger, a farmer in Steger, Illinois. He wanted to make it easier for farmers to find their target range while hunting deer. His invention was the first scope mount and it is still used today. Scope mounts come in two types: open-top and closed-top. Open-top scopes are typically used on rifles that have noPicatinny rail or other accessory rails above the rifle's barrel, such as shotguns or muzzleloaders. Closed-top scopes are typically used on rifles withPicatinny rails or other accessory rails above the barrel, such as shotguns or muzzleloaders. The main difference between open-top and closed-top scopes is how they attach to the rifle's stock (see Figure 1). Open-tops use screws to attach directly to the rifle's stock, while closed-tops require a mounting bracket (Figure 2) which sits below the Rifle's Picatinny rail(s) and attaches either via screwdriver threads (for shotguns) or hinge pins (for muzzleloaders). The early history of scope mounts can be traced back to 1868 when Samuel Morse designed an open top scope mount for his electriclegraph system called "The Telesco." This type of scope mount was later modified into the modern open top scope mount design that we know today. The Telescoscope also featured a builtin magnifier that allowed shooters to see tiny targets much better than they could with naked eyes! In 1886, US Patent 727062 was issued to Alfred Vail Jr., who filed this patent for what is now known as the Vail Yoke Scope Mount. This device allowed shooters to attach an open-topped telescope directly onto their rifles using four sturdy bolts instead of using traditional screws and hinges like earlier models! This innovation led to huge progress in Scope Mount technology over the years – from simple adjustable turrets/prisms through more complex aperture/illumination systems until we currently enjoy one of the most advanced Scope Mount technologies available today! Scope mounts are devices that allow the user to attach a rifle to a gunstock with two screws. Scope mounts come in different shapes and sizes, so it is important to choose one that will fit your rifle and gunstock correctly. There are three types of scope mounts: permanent, removable, and adaptable. Permanent scope mounts typically use four screws to secure the mount to the stock. Removable scope mounts use either Push-on or Slotted fasteners (POSF), which can be removed using a small tool. Adaptable scope mounts use an adjustable screw system that allows for various Rifle Lengths (RL)DIVS (receiver length divided by overall downslope). adaptable scopes typically have an RLCD (receiver length multiplied by height) setting, which determines how wide or narrow the viewfinder should be when worn. The three main types of mount are permanent, removable, and adaptable; however there are many others available on the market that can be used with rifles and guns. The benefits of using a mount include increased accuracy due to better windage and elevation correction, reduced weight on the firearm because no adjustments need to be made outside of range, easier storage because it doesn’t require taking apart the firearm every time you want to change magnification or focus, and faster acquisition times because there is no need for waiting for a target before shooting.
In 1871, the first steamer to travel through Steger, Illinois was the "SS Missouri". The town had been founded by a group of German farmers in 1848. It became an important stop on the Great Western Railroad. In 1872, when the railroad was sold to the Chicago and Northwestern Railway, Steger became part of their system. The first post office in Steger was established in 1872.
Steger is an agricultural town in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in Steger was John Prentice, who arrived in 1834. Other early residents were James Sayers and Drury Stroud. The town site was surveyed in 1845 by George Stephenson and sold to Abram Cottage Company for $5 per acre. In 1865, the village of Steger organized as a town under the name of "Manchester." It changed its name again to "Steger" on July 1, 1898. In 1907, Steger became one of thirty-six townships within Kane County when it was created from portions of Cook and McHenry counties. On November 3 that year, the township's vote passed for a new mayor and board of trustees; Clarence Darden had served since 1906 but resigned effective December 1 to become president pro tem of Cook County. On January 1, 1915, part of SteGER Township north of Cicero Avenue was annexed into Cicero Heights (later Elston) Township; this change affected only residents living inside the incorporated limits of both villages while those living outside annexations remained within their respective communities until annexation occurred. It wasn't until 1949 that all residents within SteGER Township were consolidated with Cicero Heights when that community achieved city status as a result of efforts by then-mayor Richard Jablonski and City Councilman John Greer to reduce crime and improve public services in what had been a largely rural township

Some were designed specifically for rifles, while others were adapted from other firearms such as shotguns or handguns. The first Scope Mount was developed in the 18th century by Nicholas-Jacques Conte. He designed a mount that allowed shooters to adjust the height of the objective lens on their rifle using a dial on the mount itself. The use of Scope Mounts began to increase in popularity during World War I because artillery commanders needed more accurate sighting devices for their cannons. During World War II, military snipers started using Scope Mobs to attach scopes directly to their rifles. These mounts featured an attached eyelet that allowed the shooter to rotate the scope up or down according to their desired magnification level. This increased accuracy for snipers who needed greater range at short ranges (such as near-field shooting). In 1984, Armalite created the AR-15/ MIL-STD 1913 screwmount system which became popular among many shooters due its simple design and ease of use. The Mil-STD 1913 screwmount system allows shooters to attaches any type of optic without having to remove the entire firearm(s). From there, shooters could choose between various mount types including bipods, monopods, and Harris bipods. One downside of this mounting system is that it can be difficult to keep track of where each optic is located on your firearm when using multiple attachments simultaneously

Steger is a town in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,532 at the 2010 census. Steger is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. It is located on the Fox River north of Chicago. The first settlers in Steger were German immigrants who arrived there in 1836. They built a log cabin and started a farm which they named "Eisenhower" after President George Washington. The original post office was established in 1839 with the name "Hancock". A store was founded by John Haas in 1848 and operated for several years before closing due to financial difficulties. A mill was built around 1850 by Wm. Dickey and it continued to be used until 1861 when it became an arsenal depot for the Union army during the Civil War. In 1865, Jno Cramer organized a Methodist congregation here and began preaching from a small church that he had erected on Main Street. In 1870, he donated land to build what would become known as First Congregational Church (later Steger United Methodist Church). After two years of construction, it opened its doors for worship on February 8, 1872. On October 6 of that year, voters approved annexation into Kane County from Cook County under provisions of the Kansas–Illinois Compromise Act which provided that all counties within Illinois should be divided equally between those states and their respective legislatures should create new counties within those states based on population size instead of appointed commissioners methodologies used prior thereto. The first post office here was established on December 3, 1873 with the name "Hancock". The current building replaced an earlier structure which burned down in 1897-98 while being renovated by then-Mayor Otis Sanger.. A telephone line was installed here in 1924 and service began operations September 15th that year with Mayor James Hennigan as first customer.. In 1951-1952 SteGER's only high school graduated its class with distinction - Drury High School! Classes were later added to Carle Place & Griggs Junior High School but closed early due to lack of enrollment.. Finally attendance levels grew enough so SteGER's now one high school made up entirely outgrowth of annexing neighboring towns & villages has since been reopening as Harrisonburg High School! SteGER has always been home to many businesses including 2 large grocery stores ( Kroeger & Liefland) along side many other smaller businesses such as mechanics shops etc...& most recently Cafe' Masterpiece
Steger was organized as a township on April 4, 1851, by the Illinois General Assembly. On November 1, 1868, it became a city.
