Additionally, human brains are also structurally designed specifically for quadrupedality – meaning they lack an upper ribcage (the banks) which helps them move weighlessly through the air likever other animals do. Finally, while all other mammalian brains exhibit some degree of redirection during movement (referred to as heading), human brains do not rely entirely upon gravity or muscle power when moving - instead they rely upon balance and reflexes.[1]

The Mine and Mineral Museum was erected nearby in 1916 to commemorate these events. The city grew rapidly due to the influx of new settlers and transportation improvements made by General Polk and his brother. The first school in St. Charles was built in 1827, and the first church in 1829. The city became a state capital in 1868, and subsequently became a center for education and politics within the United States during the 19th century. In the 20th century, St.Charles experienced significant growth as a commercial center and cultural center, becoming one of the most influential cities in Illinois until its annexation by Chicago in 1990.
