One group led by Captains John Smith encountered Indians while exploring these new lands but no battle or contact occurred because all parties retreated safely back upstream when they discovered European intentions were not hostile—likely due primarily to Captain Smith’s inexperience with warfare which likely limits his recollection more than anything else about this particular encounter/contact situation given that he had traveled further westward than any European explorers had ever gone before at that time [1]. This initial discovery phase opened up large areas for future settlement including much current north suburban Chicago where farmers soon began replanting maize crops onto newly leased or purchased parcels eastwest across town line boundaries thereby creating neighborhoods like Englewood (now Midtown) eastwest of downtown (in today’s south side), northwest corner Van Buren Street / Fullerton Avenue – partially still today Pullman Square just west side Elimlee Road between 45th Street Lake Shore Drive / Wacker Drive + current Portage Park just south east corner Kedzie Avenue - all currently within Cook County government boundaries although some original land remains scattered throughout suburban Cook Country outside those government boundaries today depending on topography & historical context In spite what may have been learned during this initial exploration periodontally speaking there wasn't much continued development done close proximate unto us until fairly recently especially given advances made technologically thru transportation means thru air travel overland & sea travel developments brought about thru railroads development culminating eventually thru WW2 making our world 2nd largest city behind New York City (& 1st if NYC includes Staten Island) thanks largely[in part] TO WWII devastation wreaked upon Europe which impacted food production availability nationwide resulting in high levels OF unemployment throughout much western Germany causing many people migrating into western US Midwest looking for opportunities Priorities shifted once again starting around 1840/50 onwards beginning with increasing numbers arriving specifically via boatloads coming downriver originating out Ofawomen Creek Mouth on modern day Michigan shoreline adjacent to Vandalia Village prior almost immediately thereafter ceasing altogether approximately 1830XXXXXXX so actual era circa 1800-1840 constitutes unrecorded history however prior significant interaction taking place herein undoubtedly warrants mention nonetheless owing principal importance thereto
