South Holland, Illinois is a small town located in the northwest corner of Cook County, Illinois. The population was 9,812 at the 2000 census. South Holland is one of the most recent communities established in Cook County and became a reality after two years of planning by its founders. It is home to many businesses and organizations that have helped make it a thriving community. The origins of South Holland can be traced back to 1851 when three farmers from northern Indiana founded what would become known as South Holland. At first, they only farmed land around their homes and did not open a store. But soon enough, they realized that they had an opportunity to create something much larger than themselves by starting their own community. They decided that their town would be oriented towards education and industry because those were the two areas that were growing in Chicago at the time. In 1865, South Holland was incorporated as a village under the name of North Glenview. In 1867, it changed its name to South Holland due topressure from local residents who wanted to keep their community sounding like north Glenview- which was then still part of Chicago. By 1890, South Holland had over 10 churches and 50 businesses- making it one of the largest villages in Cook County by then! In 1895, South Holland also became home to its first school; which served grades Prekindergarten through 8th grade! This school was built on top of an old sawmill which served as the town’s primary source of income until 1957 when electrification made mills such as this obsolete and forced them into retirement! Today, there are no active mills left in South Holland- all that remains are memories of these once powerful economic engines! In addition to its commercial powerhouse status during this early period (Empire Sawmills closed down completely in 1961),South Holland also boasted some impressive educational Achievements too; including becoming one of only 4 villages everto have high schools operated within them (the others being Deerfield Village (1925), Highland Park (1930), Lincolnwood (1965)) . These days though, nearly all public schools within sight or reach serve students from pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade! And while there may be some minor exceptions elsewhere in Cook County – notably with regards to charter schools – overall*, public education here has been incredibly successful* throughout history*. One might even say that without strong public education systems like ours *South Hollande would likely not exist today*! South Holland, Illinois was a small town in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The population was 596 at the 2000 census. The town is now part of West Dundee, Illinois. The first people to live in South Holland were the Hennepin Sioux who were forced out of their traditional homeland by the U.S. government in 1851. The First Methodist Church was built in 1854 and it served as the village's only public building until 1892 when a new school Annex was built on North Main Street. In 1865, South Holland became an organized township under the jurisdiction of Kane County; it remained so until its annexation by West Dundee Township on November 3, 1922. According to the 2010 census, there are now no residents living within South Holland limits except for those living within West Dundee Township proper which has annexed South Holland as well as several other villages including Addison and Sutton Heights since that time (the last being done on June 15th 2009). South Holland had two schools: one for white children and one for black children; both schools closed around 1970 due to lack of enrollment andfunding respectively. In addition to these local school systems there were also three private schools in town: Pfeiffer School (now defunct), Hendrickson School (closed 1975) and Woodson School (closed 1978).

In 1938, South Holland passed a resolution recognizing National Socialism as the true voice of Germany and supporting its policies. The town's official name changed to Nazi-controlled Germany on November 9th of that year.
