The popularity of binoculars continued to grow during World War II because people used them for military purposes such as spotting enemy artillery fire or battlefield targets from long distances. During that time, HOA also developed innovative optics including an 8x zoom lens which was later adopted by Nikon Corporation and is still in use today on high-end cameras! After World War II, however, demand forbinoculars dwindled because people started using new technologies such as television and radar instead of looking through small lenses at distant objects. Skokie is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 71,842 at the 2010 census. It is the third most populous city in Illinois and is one of the five cities in Chicago metropolitan area. Skokie is also the second largest city in Lake County, California after Rancho Mirage. The first Europeans to visit what is now Skokie were French missionaries who set up a mission in 1779 near present-day Deerfield. Jesuit Father Jacques Marquette explored the area in 1785 and named it after Jean-Baptiste de la Salle's Province of Canada as "Soukaki". After La Salle's death, his colony was abandoned by 1805 because of Indian attacks. In 1814, Congress established a territorial government for Illinois under General James K. Polk and moved the Canadian missions south to Bemidji and then Rock Island before settling on land east of river Ripple where current day Skokie would be situated had not flooding destroyed homes around that time; this included part of what is now Riverside Drive which runs along Wabash Avenue near Sperry Road/Skokie Boulevard intersection (now Ryan Park). In 1847, John Hodge bought from La Salle some land including present day Skokie from David Heald; Hodge renamed his holdings "Hodgesville" after him and laid out streets there like today's Grand Avenue (the original name for Dearborn Avenue). In 1849, George Stephenson built the first railroad line between Chicago and Milwaukee—the Racine–Milwaukee Railway—and skirted through what are now parts of Skokie and Deerfield townships. This line allowed farmers access to new markets outside of Chicago while tfering products back home across town at local blacksmiths' shops located on trading POSTs or wagons running down Cicero Street (present day North Ave.). The arrival of railroads led to increased commerce within Chicago but also broughtSKOKIE INDEPENDENCE! A petition was circulated by members of the City Council urging President Franklin D. Roosevelt to annex Skokie into Chicago due to its proximity to McCormick Place – then home of America’s first professional football league championship game win over Baltimore Colts on December 3rd 1941 – but no action was taken as Roosevelt wanted stronger representation from suburban areas such as suburban Cook County west of downtownChicago On February 15th 1959 Mayor Richard Jahn announced plans for a new high school called "John Marshall High School", which would replace South Side High School which had been serving students since 1938; construction began that year with classes starting in 1960indering and enrollment reaching 1,500 students eventuallly rising to 8th grade full time by 1966 when it merged with Kane Middle School #2 adjacent thereto becoming John Marshall PreparatorySchool The annexation process finally started on April 14th 1961 when Cook County Board certified that all proper papers were filed with state authorities requisite for an incorporation vote; following this vote proposed names for our town - 'Skokia' - became law when they were accepted by both State Paroles Board & CookCountyBoard Of Elections Commissionership

Skokie was a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 21,846 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Skokie is located on the south side of Chicago and is bordered by Parkwood to the east and Westchester to the north. The first permanent settler in what would become Skokie was John Page in 1837; he named his land "Skoki" after an Indian chief who had been fatally attacked on one of Page's hunting trips near modern-day Peoria, Illinois a few years earlier. In 1848, Hemanusingh Chatterjee settled here with his family from Calcutta (now Kolkata). He became president of a company that built the first water tower in Cook County – now known as Skokie Water Tower – and donated land for a village center on which he built himself a home. In 1865, Rev. John Fenton organized Lutheran missionaries from Germany to found an agricultural mission here; they arrived with 10 families and began farming around 1870. By 1880, there were over 200 people living in Skokie proper; by 1920 there were just under 100 residents still living there today.. In 1905,Skokie Electric Light & Power Co., predecessor to Comcast Corporation bought property southwest of downtown from Consolidated Telephone Company for $1 million dollars ($10 million current value) in what would be its original corporate headquarters building (the old Sears Building). With this acquisition came responsibility for providing electricity to all of Cook County including skokies within its boundaries. As other companies moved into new buildings throughout downtownChicago during this time period such as JPL Research Laboratories (later NASA), many skoki residents saw their only exposure to large city life being through watching power go out or listening to sirens as horns blared while streetcars made their way through downtown during rush hour...skoki residents enjoyed growing up without any form of electric service until 1948 when they finally got their own phone line! This experience helped shape Comcast's decision-making process when it decided not to build another substation next door for their existing customers in order focus instead on expanding into new markets such as Milwaukee and Philadelphia which were experiencing rapid growth at that time thanks largely to coalitions between Rockefeller interests and Edison interests - something Comcast felt couldn't profitably compete against given its investments at that point within those larger markets alone!
Skokie was founded in 1871 by brothers George and Josiah Skokie. The town was named for John Skokie, a landowner who donated the land on which it stands. The first store in Skokie opened in 1875. In 1915, the town became a city.
