Shiloh, Illinois is a town located in Shiloh County, Illinois. The population was 9,624 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Shiloh County. The community was named after General David Hogg and his brigade of Virginia militia who fought in the American Civil War on the Union side. Gun hammer history in Shiloh began around 1868 when John Denson, a blacksmith and rifle builder from nearby Decatur, started making gun hammers for use by white farmers in the area. In 1875, Denson's son-in-law Ephraim Withers set up a forge in what is now downtown Shiloh to make shotgun hammers for local residents and local businesses. By 1915, Withers had built a larger forge where he still operates today as Hammer House forge Co., Ltd., making shotgun hammers and other firearms parts. In 1927, two brothers from Flintridge founded Hammer House Arms & Ammunition Incorporated (HHAAI) which became one of the leading manufacturers of handgun ammunition in America. HHAAI would continue production until its closure in 2005. During their time at HHAAI, the Bros.' descendants continued to produce high quality handgun ammunition under their name until it too closed down in 2005. Today there are several descendant companies that still manufacture Gun Hammer Ammunition products including HammerHouse Firearms Manufacturing Company LLC which produces revolvers and pistols; Hammer House Armory Corp which manufactures shotguns; HammerHouse Gun Manufacturing Company LLC which produces rifles; Alliant Ammunition Corporation which manufactures handguns; Andrey Ammunitions Inc., also known as Ammo Brothers Inc., specializes exclusively in pistol ammo production with facilities located outside of Chicago; finally Arsenal Arms & Armor manufacturing company specializes exclusively in rifle ammo production with plants located outside of Detroit/HammerHouse City limits).

Shiloh is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 9,362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago–Naperville–Joliet Combined Statistical Area. The first white settlers in what would become Shiloh were Levi and his family who arrived in 1815 from Kentucky. The land they purchased was located near present day Oriental and Congress Streets on the north side of town. In 1846, George Washington Carver bought 379 acres (160 ha) of land east of Shiloh from John Gentry for $5 per acre (0.40 m²). From this purchase, Carver founded Carver-Stroud Agricultural Company which became one of America’s leading agricultural producers. Shiloh Post Office was established on October 15, 1853 (date unknown). A store was built southwest of present day Market Square on the corner of State Street and Highway 14 about 1861 by Mrs. Lavinia Haney to serve local farmers and their customers traveling through the area on their way to or from markets in Skokie or Northbrook. The post office remained open until it closed on May 10, 1912 due to lack of mail volume; however, it continued to be exchangeable with other towns within Cook County until that time. In 1903 a new high school building was completed south of Main Street across from the old post office complex that had been built for the earlier Shiloh School District #1 schools just north of Market Square when that district disbanded in 1902 after years spent operating out-of-town schools without proper support from those within Cook County or Springfield Township including residents who had voted to establish that district only a few months before its establishment! After several years during which no plans were made to anew build a school in Shiloh as there were not enough students living there despite efforts by parents to send their children there as well as donations by individuals/families towards such an endeavor prior to 1903 when construction began finally occurring we are able to report today [2018] that since opening day classes have graduated over 150 students grades 7th through 12th with future intent being implanted intoshowing additional classrooms will soon be available currently almost all buildings used for storage or community functions such as bake sales meetings Fourth grade through 12th are now housed inside newly constructed gymnasium also making use of facilities located adjacent along Scott Road
