It was founded in 1805 by General James Wilkinson and named for General David Shiloh, who led a Union army to victory over Confederate forces at Pea Ridge in 1864. The first post office was established in Shiloh on November 1, 1809.
Shiloh is a census-designated place in Sangamon County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield–Sandy Hook metropolitan area. Shiloh was founded by Methodist missionaries in 1831 as a small farming community on the banks of the White River. It grew rapidly afterRailroad construction began bypassing Sangamon County and its stop at Shilohite Corners allowed for easy access to markets in larger cities. A post office operated from 1834 to 1865; it was moved to what is today its current location in 1868. The name "Shiloh" originated with John Pemberton's donation of land to the Methodist Church which he called "The Hill Top." In 1872, General William Tecumseh Sherman visited Shiloh and pronounced it "a glad tidings indeed" that Chicago had been abandoned and all American Indian villages were now within artillery range of Springfield Armory. In 1907, Shiloh became a city when voters passed an amendment creating it as an unincorporated community within Sangamon County limits. A new municipal hall was built in 1911 and the first city council meeting was held there on December 5, 1911. At that time, Shiloha had a population of just over 100 people and consisted mostly of farmers who grazed their animals on government land adjacent to town limits. However, due to rapid growth following World War I (and increased military spending), businesses opened up throughout downtown Shiloha providing employment for many residents who did not have access to marketable goods outside of town or rural areas accessible by wagon or horseback ride only. By 1925, downtown had become home to more than 300 people with commercial buildings including two stores, a blacksmith shop and four churches serving a total population of 2200 people living in fifty-six housing units scattered around three streetscape blocks bounded by First Street east; Second Street west; Third Street north; and Fourth Street south - making it one of largest urban areas in Illinois at that time! During World War II (1939-1945), much activity took place within downtown Shiloha centered around munitions plants run by Armour & Whitney which manufactured ammunition for Ulysses S Grant's Army during the war years as well as other large employers located along First Street where manufacturing moved out into adjoiningyards during wartime raids etcetera resulting in destruction/obstruction of streetscapes typical for smaller towns near industrial sites during this time period
There has been a long and varied history of grip design for pistols, rifles, and shotguns. The earliest pistol grips were simple, unadorned wood or leather straps that fit around the barrel of the weapon to keep it in place. While these early designs served their purpose well, they were not ideal for handling or gripping the gun. One of the first designers to come up with a better grip on a pistol was George Stephenson in 1814. Stephenson came up with what is now known as the Stephenson grip design. The Stephenson grip consisted of two pieces that fitted together like an M&M candy bar and were held together by a piece of webbing between them. This design allowed the user to hold onto the gun more comfortably and helped reduce hand fatigue during extended sessions with the firearm. The popularity of this new grip soon spread and other designers began to incorporate it into their designs. By 1860, there were many different Grip Designs available on the market! Some notable manufacturers who produced firearms with custom grips include Smith & Wesson, Colt Firearms Corporation, Springfield Armory, Ruger Firearms Corporation, Mossberg & Sons Limited, Winchester Repeater Arms Company, Savage Arms Corporation etc.). Today’s handguns are still designed primarily using traditional grips (such as those found on revolvers) which provide an excellent level of control over both hands when holding them; however, some owners have chosen to install Glock-style triggers or competition-grade Grips in order to achieve even greater accuracy potential from their firearms.

Shiloh is a town in Shiloh Township, Peoria County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first white people to live in what is now Shiloh were two men who came by wagon train from Tennessee in 1839. They named their new community "Kanawha" after an Indian chief they had seen on their journey. In 1841, another group of white men and boys arrived at the trading post near present-day Interstate 80 and Marshall Road called "Platteville" after General David Phillips' military expedition through central Illinois during the 1840s searching for a route to California. The platteville name stuck and was adopted as the town's name in 1862 when it became part of Peoria Township. The first school in Shiloh was founded in 1842 by Rev. John Prentice with help from his brother Amos Prentice and other donors. Classes began on October 9th that year with Mr Jno Addison teaching reading and writing to three students out of twelve students total attendance that fall; this would be the only school session until 1860 when a addition to the building added an element of music which continueed into use until 1906 After years of being a small frontier town, Shiloh grew rapidly due to its strategic location as well as its immigrants who came seeking opportunity andbetter lives outside of slavery or indentured servitude . During Reconstruction (1865-1877), many African Americans worked various jobs within white society while trying to make sense of how things had changed since they were freedmen just twenty-six years earlier In 1871, one hundred black men took up land east of present day I-80 along what is now US Highway 20 (now I-88) and formed a company known as The First Hundred Black Men who built homes there until 1903 Shiloh also experienced some great moments during its history including: becoming one of five towns incorporated into Peoria County on December 11th 1865; hosting America's third national championship football game between "Illinois State Normal" (now Northwestern)and Vanderbilt University on November 6th 1870; becoming home to both Abraham Lincoln High School (now Abraham Lincoln Community School)and Tuskegee Institute where Booker T Washington taught from 1860–1863; see old courthouse bowstringer Massacre which took place on September 11th 1881during Shannon Owensboro's attempt to enter her home uninvited after ordering her husband not keep any liquor inside because she disapproved ....
