Schaumburg, Illinois is a town located in Cook County, Illinois. As of the 2010 census, the population was 41,974. The name Schaumburg comes from the German word "Schauenburg," meaning "a small village." The first settlers in Schaumburg were farmers and their families who arrived around 1835. At that time, there were only about twenty people living in Schaumburg. Over time, the community grew as a result of its location - it was just a few miles north of Chicago and close to other important towns such as Tinley Park and Elmhurst. In 1859, the Iowa Railroad came through Schaumburg and made it an easier place to get to Chicago by rail. This allowed more people to move into Schaumburg and make it a larger town. During World War II, Schaumburg played an important role in the war effort because many of its citizens served in military units or are credited with helping victory over Nazi Germany. Many businesses closed during the war but later reopened after peace returned to Europe. Today, Schaumburg is home to many businesses including Honda Motorsports Center (owner/driver Nick Hemberg) which is one of North America's leading racing facilities; Sears Holdings Corporation (sales representative Jana Weisbrot); Ford Motor Company; Motorola Solutions; ABC Supply Stores Inc.; Time-Life Books & Music; PGA TOUR Champions Travel Insurance Assn.; The KFC Hoax Museum; Schlumberger Co., Inc.(the world's largest offshore oil rig manufacturer). There are also several synagogues and churches in Schaumbburg including Congregation Tiferet Israel on West Main Street (founded 1888), First United Methodist Church on State Street (1896), Shaare Zedek synagogue on Southport Road (1890), Messiah Lutheran Church on East Side Highway (1901) and Beth Elohim synagogue on North Side Highway (1910).

Schaumburg, Illinois is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 11,611 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Schaumburg was founded in 1847 by German immigrants as a small rural village on the east side of Chicago. In 1892 it became one of the twenty-eight townships formed from the former township of Evanston. On January 1, 1959, Schaumburg was merged into its larger neighbor to the south--Elmhurst--and became an annexe to that city. The first settlers in Schaumburg were Germans who had arrived in 1847 and were soon followed by Irish Catholics who settled there around 1865. A post office was established at Schaumburg in 1849, and until 1861 it was operated by Dutchmen under the name Hesseltinecht (the name of their founder). The first settler to be granted land in what would become Schaumburg Township was Nicholas Weiland who received title to 640 acres (2 km²) on November 5, 1840 from John Kinzie for his share of a deed filed December 4 that year between Kinzie and Michael Kappelman for 640 acres (2 km²) also located east of present day Elmhurst Road on what is now parts of Elsbury Road and Addison Road. By 1870 over 60% of all farms within this township had been sold with only 2/3 remaining unsold deeds dating back to before 1850 due to prohibition laws which limited buying or selling alcoholic beverages at that time! Although some early residents may have come from Germany or Bohemia specifically for agricultural purposes only – mostly those with entrepreneurial skills such as Nicholas Weiland – heavy industry soon began flowing into Schaumburg Township including two factories built by George Stephenson & Sons: The Schaeffer Paper Mill and The Neumann Machine Shop which opened their doors on May 25th 1862 within three months after each other! All but one factory closed within thirty years however these events did not mark the end of economic development but rather just another chapter in what would eventually become known as “TheCityOfChicago”! In 1895 when Northwestern Mutual Insurance Company moved its headquarters from defendants block across Dearborn Street from State Street along Lake Michigan towards Wacker Drive they decided upon Elmhurst as their new home so much so that they donated $10,000 towards construction! This event marked commencement of what would ultimately be known as “TheCityOfElmhurst”; an annexation that took place less than two years later on February 14th 1897 following ratification through popular referendum!!! Although originally platteated for an area stretching northward from Elmhurst Avenue all the way down Kenwood Boulevard including downtown Schaumburga proper; this final designation placed more emphasis uponElsbury Roads long axis making it bordered more nearly northward by Interstate 90 than any other section!! Although technically not part thereof since annexed onto neighboring city ELMURST; many consider Elsbury Roads thoroughfare throughout both cities nonetheless!! Located directly across I-90 exit 8b off La Salle Expressway heading southwest; right next door to Willis Tower like most large American cities today; Schaumburga has always been connected via public transportation with Downtown Chicago thru various routes such as Metra trains running frequently into Midtown during rush hours or Pace buses departing every few minutes right out front especially during warmer times! However prioritizing access over distance certainly wasn’t without its challenges given tight turn lanes combined with high speeds exiting I-90 onto La SalleExpressway!! One recent addition though!!!! After yearslong planning efforts led by Mayor Tim Touhey & team starting up again following December 2009 flood damage OMG YES CHICAGO RIDE THE FLOODZONE INTO SCHAUMBURG ON A FINE DAY THANKS TO MUNI TRAINS WE ARE NOW HAVING FRESH AIR FOR ALL OF US AGAIN AND THAT IS GREAT NEWS FOR TOURISTS AS THIS WILL NOW HELP WITH DOWNTOWN CLEANUP TIME WHEN NEXT YEAR'S RAINFALL TOUCHES DOWN AGAIN IN APRIL !!
