Schaumburg is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The town was first settled by Germans in 1818 as a farm community on the then-useless village of Ecorse (now part of Old Town Chicago). Over time, it grew to become one of America's most populous towns – with a population peak of 106,743 in 1950 – before shrinking gradually over the next few decades as its residents moved away to larger cities or suburban neighborhoods. At its height, Schaumburga had an estimated 2 million residents. However, recent reports suggest that its size has dwindled even further and that it may have fewer than 10,000 residents remaining by 2030 if current trends continue. Schaumburg Township was organized on March 15th 1868 from parts of Ecorse and West Fullerton townships. The official cause for the creation of Schaumburg Township is unknown but some say it was because there were not enough German immigrants living in Cook County to form a township on their own behalf; others claim that General David Dixon wanted to create an Irish-American enclave within his new township because he felt many American Indians were living near him without proper title to their land despite claiming Indian descent (the source for this story does not include verification). In reality what likely happened was that Dixon believed that since European Americans had been living in his area for so long they should be given some level of civic representation like Townsmen – something which did not happen until after World War II when deeds and titles started being drawn up statewide). The original settler families who founded Schaumburger included Peter Kapp (a cooperator), Johann Wehner (an agricultural laborer), Johann Schneider (an innkeeper) and Wilhelm Müller (a miller). As times changed and more people moved into the townspeople quickly built homes including churches and schools (!), it ended up having more than one name change: First Schaumberg then Schaumburger then finally just Schaumburt again between 1924-1929 due to confusion caused by numerous moves within the community/township itself! It would be another 30 years until any real growth took place with only 1% growth rate reported from 1951 through 1960 according to census data! In fact during much of this time there wasn't even a police department or streetlights! In 1963 when Rev John Fenton became pastor at St Peters Catholic Church things began changing… although admittedly modestly so! With help from some local businessmen folk started buying property east side Of Michigan Avenue now known as “Fenton Place” which later housed Sears Tower until 1996 when it collapsed killing many people inside! Reverend Fenton soon realized that he needed more space so he purchased yet another piece of property just west side Of Michigan Avenue now known as “Goudreau Place” where he built what is now known as Goudreau Park which still houses trees today!!! This kept going along until 1973 when Reverend Fenton sold his last piece adjoining Prairie View A&M University!!!! In other words while all these changes may seem small potatoes outside our everyday lives they truly meant everything back then considering how little development actually took place within our tiny town….
