In 1865, an Agricultural School was opened which taught people how to grow crops. A new brick courthouse was built in 1868 and served as court house until 1918 when it burned down. In 1907, another agricultural school was established which became known as North Western College (now Northwestern University). In 1920, a high school called Park Ridge High School was opened which became home to many famous athletes including Jesse Owens and Muhammad Ali. In 1925 Schaumburg annexed neighboring towns of Homanville and Ardsley into its city limits; these towns were later dissolved into Village Of Schaumburg whenArdsley declined annexation by Schaumborg

Schaumburga is home to several cultural institutions including Symphony Hall/Jazz Gallery which opened on October 5th 1915; Stirling University which opened on September 14th 1912; Loretto Chapel (that served until 1922 as First Presbyterian Church) on North Shore Drive; Good Shepherd Catholic School closed on July 15th 2018 due to financial difficulties; Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church (AAMEZ) which serves primarily black residents since 1865; Good Shepherd Lutheran church located off West Side Highway east of I-95 reopened on November 1st 2019 after renovations costing $25 million
