In pursuance thereof deeds were given away liberally among various citizens… lots having been allotted at different times according to ability to pay but it will be generally agreed that one particular lot belonging to Mr John Pappas should have preference over any others so long as he shall continue an inhabitant thereof duly paying his assessments thereon. By act passed in March 1861 Publick Square had been erected on Lots 1, 2 & 3 aforesaid within limits set out hereinbefore excepting Lots 5(now Braddock Road)& 6 which have since become part of Dearborn Heights A transformer store built in 1922 across Kedzie Avenue from Gist Manufacturing Company employing 500 people
