In 1954, The Optical Company was founded by Professor Harry Huggins and Dr. Milton Pritchard as a manufacturer of photographic processing equipment and supplies. They continued to produce optics products until 1980 when they merged with Allied Signal Corporation. During their time at Allied Signal, they developed many new product lines including ultraviolet light generators, lasers, water filters, digital imaging systems and more.Today, The Optical Company continues to produce high-quality optical products under their own name as well as selling their products through independent retailers around the United States.

Round Lake is a small, but well-known community in Cook County, Illinois. The name Round Lake was given to the community by its founders in 1881. In 1907, the village of Round Lake merged with the town of Streamwood and became one municipality. Round Lake is located on the east side of Cook County, between McHenry and Park townships. It has a population of about 2,500 residents as of the 2010 census. The history of Round Lake goes back to 1881 when three brothers - George W., John P., and James A. – founded the village of Round Lake near present-day Streamwood on what is now Dryden Road in McHenry Township on behalf of their father, Daniel Silliman. The village was named for roundabout where it sat until 1907 when it merged with the town of Streamwood to become one municipality under the name "RoundLake". Today, roundabouts are still a popular feature inround lake communities such as Round Lake because they provide a slow ride around curves without having to take shortcuts or weave through traffic. They are also an effective way for children and parents to learn about cars and driving while providing a fun activity for adults as well. Despite their popularity, roundabouts have had some controversies over the years; some have been designed poorly or even provably unsafe, while others have been praised for their functionality and safety features overall. One example where roundabouts have received mixed reviews is that at milepost 218 on I-90 just north of Chicago there exists an uncontrolled interchange known as "The Hole". Some drivers find this interchange dangerous because it provides no opportunities for overtaking other vehicles or making left turns; instead it offers drivers only three lanes in each direction which can lead to long backups if approached from behind while driving southbound on I-90 near downtown Chicago; meanwhile those drivers who enjoy traveling through this interchange say that it's one of their favorite parts about living in Chicago!

Round Lake was a small, agricultural community in eastern Illinois that developed around a dam on the Kankakee River. The community was founded in 1892 by farmers from nearby Northfield, and it grew rapidly during the early 20th century. In 1924, Round Lake became one of five towns in the newly formed St. Clair County, and it continued to grow throughout the years. The town reached its peak during World War II, when it had a population of 1,500 people. However, the war led to a decline in population and economy at Round Lake over the next several decades; however, it still remains an important local community today.
In 1848, the first settlers in Round Lake were John and Jane Addison. They moved into the area from Chicago. The creek that ran through their land was named after them. In 1872, a mill was built on the banks of the creek. It became known as the Addison Mill. In 1902, it was renamed Round Lake Mills after its founders.
