The first Target Shooting Club was organized in 1795 in the house of Dr. James Bailey. In 1873, Rifleman John Romeos founded the first Target Shooting Club in Romeoville, IL. In 1895, he donated an equipment room to the club which served as its clubhouse until 1948 when it was moved to its current location on Wabash Avenue. The club continued to meet regularly until 1951 when it disbanded due to lack of members. However, during that time period there were many successful hits at local rifle ranges such as: Cairo (IL), Aurora (IL), Joliet (IL), Plainfield (IL) and Lisle (IL). This success led to a new target shooting craze that began in Romeoville in the early 1960s due to a movie called "Shooting Gallery". Many people from throughout the area decided to come out and shoot at local range facilities for the first time ever! The popularity of target shooting declined after "Shooting Gallery" but experienced a resurgence starting around 1979 with two major events being held: National rifle championships at US Army Ammunition Plant Springfield Armory and Chicago's Water Tower Shootout - both outdoors locations on Lake Michigan! These events helped revive interest among victims of adult obesity who had stopped participating because they could no longer afford targets or guns! After 40 years oftarget shooting activity in Romeoville, we can still be proud of our club’s rich history including over 350 accomplishments including numerous national titles and international tournaments!

Romeoville, Illinois is a small town in McLean County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,592 at the 2000 census. Romeoville is part of the Springfield metropolitan area. The post office in Romeoville was established on December 12, 1853, and was renamed Romeoville in 1889. It changed its name again to Rome on July 15, 1907. The community of Romeoville was platted by George Stephenson in 1836 and named after his ancestral home at Romeshire House in England. In 1847–48 the Stephenson brothers built a gristmill on the then- unmarked site of present-day Romeoville with plans to make flour for local markets as well as export it to Canada and Europe. Unfortunately for them, the mill failed soon after construction began; however their successors continued operations until 1926 when they were sold to Matson Brothers Lumber Co., which stillowned them until 1984 when they were transferred to the McLean County Landmarks Preservation Authority. Romevilles original log courthouse (pictured) burned down during an Indian raid on October 8, 1868; but replaced two weeks later by a new three-story brick structure (the only extant building from that period). A blacksmith shop and bank were also added during this time frame. The first school district in McLean County was organized here in 1870; four years later a hand pumpOperated by Mr Methodist Church supplied water for streetlights within town limits became operational through subscription service from citizens . On November 25th 1915 an influenza pandemic caused many businesses including the Post Office to close while supplies lasted; however due to dedication and hard work of select few individuals who manned both locations open throughout pandemic “ Classification Period” there remained same level or better service throughout entire district notwithstanding shortfalls occasioned by pandemic… Townspeople organized themselves into Fire Department effective date November 16th 1916 under command of First Lieutenant John Fenton with Headquarters located at former Masonic Hall On January 2nd 1921 elected officials designated one block off of Main Street as Romer Park becoming operational….During World War II most residents supported military efforts either contributing money or supplying goods……..Most notable event concerning town during war came about September 1939 when Japanese bombers bombed US forces stationed at Windy City Arsenal killing nineteen men just days before Missouri Valley Fair being held here….. Prior to this raids all night long nightly Market Lighting Ceremony took place following traditional Irish Blessing Of Fields celebration taking place annually near Catholic cemetery Approximately every other Friday evening since early 1800s

This innovation allowed shooters to better aim their rifles and improve accuracy. In 1869, another inventor named George Stephenson developed what is now known as an airgun Shoot-Out Trainer (AST). AST consisted of a stand with four legs that stood vertically like a tripod while also holding an airgun lead/fuse box and triggersmen’s sticks used to cock and fire ammunition shots into dummy targets set up at different distances from the STANDING TARGET HOLDER. By firing shots into dummy targets at various distances, shooters could learn how far away their bullets had go before hitting something real! This invention allowed shooters to practice shooting without having to worry about hitting anything valuable!
