Red dot sight history in Romeoville, Illinois began with the construction of a rifle range in the town in 1903. Rifle shooters from all over the area were invited to use the range, and by 1907 it had become so popular that it was decided to build a larger complex on land adjacent to the town square. The first building, which still stands today, housed a shotgun range and an infantry rifle range. Rifle practice continued at the original site until 1912 when a new facility was built across the street for pistol and rifle shooting. This new complex featured a 12-shot revolverRange as well as an 8-shot rifle range. In 1916, red dot sights became available for purchase for rifles and handguns at local gun shows. By this time, however, most of the activity at the old Rifle Range had died down replaced by more recreational activities such as golfing and fishing. In 1929, Romeoville's first high school opened its doors after being established in 1925 as Rome High School (now Romeo Community College). It quickly became apparent that there would be demand for additional firearms facilities within town limits given the increased population growth. So soon after opening its doors, school officials realized that they needed to find a way to provide safe storage space for both their guns and ammunition while also providing educational opportunities for students who wished to learn about firearms safety and how to shoot properly. They began discussions with neighboring towns about possibly sharing resources or even creating joint classes/meets between schools in order to facilitate better firearm education among students throughout southwestern Illinois! Ultimately it was determined that having our own Firearms Storage Facility wouldn't be feasible due to budget constraints; so weathered many challenges alongthe way including but not limited to: lack of funding from state government; opposition from citizens who felt their rights were being infringed upon; various legal challenges faced by school officials (including but not limited to: holding gun powder without proper serial numbers; classifying handguns as mere toys); But through all of it all we persevered because we knew that arming our community would make us stronger! In 1969, Romanoville voters passed an ordinance establishing what is now known as "The Red Dot Gunnery program." This ordinance provided financial assistance towards purchasing quality red dot sights which could then be used by law enforcement officers throughout our community on bicycles or cars during active shooter situations or other emergencies when traditional methods of target acquisition couldn't be completed safely or timely manner

Romeoville, Illinois is a small town in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Romeoville's ZIP code is 60537. Romeoville was founded on November 5th 1847 by John Rome and his brother-in-law George Haskins as a post office called Romeville. The first postmaster was James Nolen who served from 1849 to 1850. The first store in Romeoville opened in 1851 and was run by John Rome and his son William Romanowicz. In 1862, the community had two stores and twelve residents when it incorporated as a village under the name of "Romeoville". In 1865, Romer Boulevard which ran through the center of town was renamed after General Ambrose Ewing who died in China during World War I. The village remained an unincorporated community until it merged with Kane County on July 1st 1924 when all towns within Kane County became one unit under the new county government structure known as "Kane County Consolidated". On January 2nd 1830 Union Pacific Railroad built their line between Peoria IL and Joliet IL then south to Cook IL where they connected with the Chicago Main Line creating what is now known as "The Great Western Railway" era of rail transportation in Kane County
