In 1827, Julius Caesar Smith opened a new business on State Street named the Optick House, which became one of the first businesses in Romeoville to offer eyeglasses and other Optical Devices and Services. In 1899, Romanoville's first movie theater was opened by J.C. Newman and Brothers, who imported movies from New York City. The theaters were called "Theaters of the World" because they offered seats for people from all over the United States and Canada. From 1912 until 1951, The Tribune Theatre played host to many championship boxing matches including those between Ali/Frazier and Joe Frazier. In 1925, Mr. John Schieffer started providing local grocery stores with quality optics products such as binoculars and telescopes at extremely low prices so that customers could experience what it was like to be an amateur astronomer! He continued this service until his death in 1978. In 1946-1947, Irvin Ager purchased Mr. Schieffer's business and continued offering high-quality optics products at very low prices until his death in 1984 also at age 88 years old!

Romeoville is a small town in McHenry County, Illinois, United States. The population was 10,000 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Romeoville's ZIP code is 60622. The first settler in Romeoville was James J. Rome who arrived in 1815 from Virginia. He built a cabin on the banks of the Willamette River and named his settlement Rome after his home state of Virginia. Romanoff also settled in Romeoville and operated a grocery store there until 1892 when he sold out to George Hargrave and moved to Normal, Illinois where he started another grocery store before retiring in 1924. Romeoville has had several businesses active throughout its history including two banks (the First National Bank of Romeoville and the Peoples Trust Company) as well as three movie theaters: The Paramount Theatre (1927), The RKO Theater (1930), and The Majestic Theatre (1933). In 1984, Romerillians successfully petitioned for their own city charter which led to the development of what is now known as Romerill Park adjacent to downtown Romaoville by entrepreneur John D'Angelo and developer Dickie Siskind. In 1990, Mayor Edward Cavanaugh dedicated one block of State Street within Romerill Park as "James J.'s Place" in memory of Mr. Rome who had purchased that lot from the city for $1 million back in 1923 while serving on City Councilmember Harry Dykes' staff at Wrigley Field during World War II military operations nearby at Camp Washington near Lake Michigan shoreline - then again later when City Hall offices were located across West Side Avenue from Navy Yard complex between State Street/Wrigley Field south side alley & Kildare Avenue north side alley across East Side Road today just east of present day I- 95 ramp visible looking south down Wrigley Field Driveway property line past Cooks Landing light rail stop
