Romleville is home to the Romanoville holster company which has been in business since 1892. It was founded by Russian émigré Nicholas Romanov and his brother Mikhail Romanov. Holsters made from leather were used during World War II as sidearms by U.S. military personnel and are still popular today among law enforcement agencies around the world

The Roman Empire grew from humble beginnings to be one of the most powerful empires in history. After being overrun by other civilizations, including India and China, the Roman Empire eventually became an agricultural superpower and ruled much of Europe and North Africa. In 326 AD, Constantine I shifted Christianity from a non-violent religion to become one of the world's largest religions with over two billion followers today. Romeoville was founded on October 4th 1868 by John Romeoski as a place where he could raise his three children while he worked as a truck driver for the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad. For many years it was home to both American and Italian farmers who lived together in Confederated Village which consisted of 30 buildings located on six acres next to the railroad tracks. The village gradually declined after World War II when farming became more mechanized and less dependent on manpower but it regained some popularity during the late 1990s when it hosted several grand events such as The Taste of Romeoville which involved cooking demonstrations by local chefs. Today Romeoville is known for its annual Apple Blossom Festival which takes place in late April or early May and offers attractions such as apple pie walking tours through downtown along high streets full of beautiful antique stores filled with ancient artefacts from around the world Romeoville also has a rich cultural heritage that includes art dating back to Ancient Greece; music from Italy; movies made in Illinois; Shakespearean plays performed at English stage yards throughout McLean County; original farm machinery including tractors, horses, wagons and buggies used during classic times; as well as unique artifacts like an old steam engine still sitting unused at former industrial site near Town Hall Square

It is located in the Romeoville–Normal Township area of Normal Township and is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first settler in Romeoville was George Washington Romanski. Mr. Romanski built a log cabin on his farm in 1836. The first school in Romeoville was organized by teacher Mrs. Hildebrandt October 12, 1837 with three students from Harper’s Ferry (now Harrisonburg) who had come to live near Romeoville to learn about education and find work. In 1840, Reverend JF White opened a Congregational church which served the town until 1906 when it merged into the Methodist Church of America and became known as The Methodist Church of Romeoville (). In 1861, postmaster Hiram Stevens burned down his office building during an election campaign stop because he felt that political candidates were not being treated fairly by postal service commissioners; this event led to Stevens becoming one of the few postmasters nationally to be convicted of mail fraud In 1865, JH Jarvis started a grocery store on South State Street across from what is now MetroHealth Medical Center (). After five years of business success Jarvis sold his store to Prentice Royce for $2 million dollars In 1916, Romanoviels Mayor John Whelan Jr., who had previously been mayor of Normalville (northwest suburban), ran for Congress as a Democrat and won handily . Romanovielle continued its status as an unincorporated community until it joined villagehood status effective 2nd January 1959 under then Village President Ralph Atenza with 1,452 residents
Romeoville was founded in 1864 by John Rome and his wife Anna. The town is named after John's father, who had died young in 1851. The original Romeoville post office was established in 1865. In 1870, the Roman Catholic Church built a church and school in the town. In 1896, Romeoville became a city.
