In 1980s–2000s there were various changes taking place throughout Romeoville including: growth in apartments and businesses along with loss of jobs across many industries over time leaving small town status behind; however through partnerships with larger cities such as Chicago and its suburbs new opportunities have arisen for locals which has helped keep the economy afloat
