Ammunition has been a part of the Romanoville community for over 100 years. The first ammunition found in Romeoville was shot off of a cannon on December 8, 1851. In 1865, the Romeoville Arsenal was built and became one of the largest arsenals in Illinois. Ammunition here continues to be produced today by local manufacturers such as Winchester, H&H, and Remington. The first factory in Romeoville that made both rifle and pistols was established in 1871 by John Hargrave and his son, George Hargrave. The company soon went out of business but their legacy lives on through their products which are still being used today. One of the first handguns made in Romeoville was the Colt Model 1886 revolver which is still being manufactured today. Romeoville, Illinois is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 516 at the 2010 census. Romeoville is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The town was named for Julius Caesar's birthplace when his father acquired land there in 1836. It contained only about seventy people when it was settled by homesteaders on July 22, 1840. Romanoville grew rapidly after incorporation as a village in 1854 and reached its peak in population during the late 19th century with over 1,500 residents. However, rapid growth stopped suddenly around 1920 due to declines in agricultural production and the arrival of automobiles and other transportation technologies that made travel to Romeoville more difficult. In recent years, however, Romeoville has experienced some revitalization with new housing developments such as The Quarter Courts and Park Placee development along with a growing number of businesses including two banks (First National Bank and Northern Trust), two grocery stores (Cafeteria Italiana and Wegmans), three restaurants (Lucky Strike Sports Bar & Grill, Red Lobster Seafood Restaurant & Pierogi Palace Pizza Hut and Villa Bella Gardens), four medical centers (John Hennepin Hospital-Stritch School of Medicine; Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Foundation; Franciscan Health System-Chicago); one chiropractor; one used bookstore chain (Books-A-Million); two golf courses - one located within walking distance of downtown Romeoville also home to several indoor soccer teams as well as an annual summertime fairground called "The Great American Golf Tournament", which features concerts by world renowned artists; four professional sports teams - the Chicago Bears football team who play their home games at Soldier Field; the Chicago Fire soccer team who play their home games at Allstate Arena; the Romeoville High School Tigers basketball team who compete in Class AA Midwest League playoffs each season.; three large shopping malls - Sears Centre outside of downtown Chicago (); five theme parks - Six Flags Over Illinois Theme Park near Decatur IL ; eleven high schools - Jesuit High School gymnasium/football stadium complex adjacent to campus;one nursing home (); two small businesses - A&P Grocery Store on Veterans Street east of I-PASS off Interstate 94 southbound exit 160A opposite US Cellular phone store plaza adjacent to Adventist HealthCare Clinics;; Romeoville is economyally inactive but enjoys occasional events such as Fourth Of July fireworks show fireworks displays at Illini Stadium or community arts festivals like Riverfest or Harvest Festival

In the 15th century, handguns began becoming popular and began using gunpowder as propellant, making arrows much less effective at distance. In 1795, Nicholas-Jacques Conte submitted a patent for an improved rifle that fired explosive cartridges instead of traditional shot. This led to the development of rifles such as the British Enfield Rifle and American Winchester Rifle. However, it was not until 1854 that Dynamite cartridge became available that allowed projectiles to be fired with greater range than previously possible. This shift in technology allowed infantry units to fight on larger battlefields and eventually led to artillery being brought into play during World War II. Ammunition has continued its role in warfare throughout the 21st century, with various types of munitions being used in combat around the world today.

The town's unique history is its foundation story: John Rome came to America from Bohemia in 1847 as part of the so-called "Great Migration." He arrived in Illinois on a small boat, and over time he built up a successful business exporting goods from his namesake city in Czechoslovakia. In 1869, Romeoville became an incorporated community under the name of Chicago Heights. From then until it was annexed by Rome in 1978, Chicago Heights reported to Romeoville Mayor John Whelan alone. A significant event that took place during this time period was the execution of Julius Caesar by Roman authorities on July 26th BC – which led to rapid growth for the village across the river at that point. Romans were known for their fierce loyalty towards their Emperor and many buildings still remain standing today testamenting to this fact; such as Caesar's Palace (now known as the State Capitol), Station Square Shopping Centre, and Villa Giulia (now also known as Villa Borghese). Today there are more than 100 businesses based within Romaoville limits - employing almost 400 people - making it one of America’s most active economic hubs.
