Richton Park is a city in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The population was 32,608 at the 2010 census. It was the second most populous city in Kane County after Chicago. It is the home of Northwestern University and many other large businesses and institutions of higher education. The first gun in Richton Park was a model 1875 rifle bought by George Fenton from an individual named Flournoy on October 10th, 1875. The rifle was used by Fenton for target practice at his farmstead near present-day Kitchener Road and Bigby Avenue. In 1876, G P Richardson opened Richardson's Rifle and Pistol Emporium located on North Main Street which served as the nucleus for what would become Richton Park’s gun trade. Richardson sold rifles and pistols to farmers, hunters, law enforcement officers and others from surrounding communities including Danville to the south and Lombard to the north. The store also became known for its extensive collection of firearms memorabilia dating back to the 1800s including revolvers from Colt (1866), Winchester (1892) and Mauser (1915). A total of 45 guns were stocked at Richardson’s when it closed its doors in 1984 following more than five decades of business operation; some notably being preserved in separate exhibits at both Northern Illinois University's Carbondale Museum of History & Art - which houses one of only two surviving examples of a Model 1860 Colt revolver - as well as at nearby Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Gunsmith Collection where several examples are on view today including a 1907 US Army Colt Peacemaker pistol. In 1923 Richard Nixon served as Mayor of Richton Park with then-Vice President Warren Christopher serving as his Advisor on Local Affairs; during this time they renovated Richardson's Store into City Hall which still stands today within walking distance of both Northwestern University - now known as UIUC - and various businesses within downtown Richton Park proper such as Antique Mall etcetera... As mayor Nixon made progress towards creating parkland east/west Of Market St & north Of Elmhurst Rd N he sponsored legislation that created Dickstein Recreation Area east/west Of Market St &north Of Elmhurst Rd bordered by I-294 (& State Hwy 71) becoming one contiguous area open to all citizens regardless race or national origin providing plenty OF PARKING SPACE FOR OUR REFUGEES FROM THE SOVIET UNION After years wending way trying TO get this legislation through legislature&radically changing zoning laws w/out any input From property owners inside our town we finally got it done memorialized On Lawenforcement Officers Badge pinned To chests Near building marked “City Hall – July 1st 1976” &to this day remains Open To All Citizens! As recently As January 2019 over 100 people were gathered together outside City Hall For A peaceful protest demanding action Against Predatory Dog Ownersure Here In Our Town... Richton Park is a small city located in the northwest corner of Cook County, Illinois. The population was 10,574 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The City of Richton Park was organized on April 20, 1892 from part of the Town of Westchester and parts of the towns of Arlington Heights and Northbrook. The original plat for Richton Park showed 4 blocks long by 2 blocks wide with a single story home on each block. On November 3, 1908, it was reported that a group had gathered to form a town charter as they considered how to improve their economy after being forced out of their homes by developers who built new subdivisions in their former neighborhoods. They decided to name their new town after General James K. Polk because he had been an important figure in American politics during the late 1800s and early 1900s. Construction began on Richardson Park on December 12, 1908 and it opened its doors to residents on January 6, 1909. In 1912-13, Richton Park hosted the first major World's Fair in America – The Great Chicago Race Course Exhibition – which saw over 200 exhibitors from around the world come together to showcase their products and services at McCormick Place in downtown Chicago. In 1916-17, Richton Park became one of just five cities chosen as finalists for participation in Mayor Richard Jaffe's "City Beautiful" program which aimed to make Chicago more attractive to people by creating parks, improving public transportation options and creating beautification projects throughout the cityscape. Ultimately only one city – New York City – received funding under this program; however, Richton Park continued to enjoy many features included in NYC's plan such as expanded sidewalks and streetlights along Michigan Avenue! In 1933-34 following enactment of Prohibition (the US alcohol prohibition law), local businesses were ordered not to serve customers who were carrying any type or amount of alcoholic beverages despite rulings by state liquor authorities that these businesses were still legal! This resulted in much public anger across town as individuals made efforts both openlyand secretlyto purchase alcohol within walking distanceof their residences while working or going about their daily lives! Despite thispublic uproar against these business owners/ownershiptypes(which continues up through present day),RichtonParkremaineda thriving communityandhostedmany large eventsduringthose yearsincludingthe firstChicagoNational Championshipsin Pool(1935). pets are now allowed inside if you have an id card

Richton Park is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 3,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The village was organized on November 1, 1871 by area residents who desired to remain separate from the city of Chicago. The name comes from John Richardson, surveyor of land in what is now Richton Park. Aldermen and trustees voted to rename the village after Richardson in tribute to his long and distinguished career as an official within Chicago government. Richton Park's first citizens were men from easternChicago working on a canal project that connected Lake Michigan with the Mississippi River valley. They included Abram Jankowski and Captain George Stephenson, engineers for the Western Railroad Company (later merged into Union Pacific Railroad). In 1873, members of the American Legion built a meeting hall and store on Richardsonsville Road near present day Oak Lawn Avenue. The townspeople adopted a single currency - $1 bills - which they used until 1893 when paper money became available again through issues by local banks. In 1907, Richton Park annexed neighboring towns of Arlington Heights and Wheaton because they all wanted to have their own post office with their own name rather than share one with Chicago. From this time until 1951 when it merged into Chicago's second largest post office district (Prairie Post Office District), Richton Park had its own name as well as its own building type: "Post Office". On July 15th 1905 President Theodore Roosevelt visited Richton Park during his visit to Northwestern Illinois and delivered an address at Elmhurst High School in which he called for more postal service throughout the Midwest so that farmers could get their products directly to consumers without having to go throughGreat Lakes ports or New York City centers like Newark or Buffalo
