Richton Park, IllINOIS was once home to one of the largest gun mags in the nation. The Richton Park Gun Mag Club was founded in 1934 and met at an old school house on South High Street. At its peak, the club had over 100 members and published three magazines - The Rifleman, Pistolero and Shotgunner. Today, the club meets monthly and has a total membership of just 12. The late 1990s saw a change in the gun mag landscape as prosecutors began pushing for tighter regulation of firearms. As a result, many Richton Park Gun Mag Club members turned to online sources for their magazine subscriptions. In 2000, however, the club lost its charter status when it failed to meet membership dues requirements; though it still meets monthly today. Despite these setbacks, the Richton Park Gun Mag Club continues to play an important role in American culture by preserving our history with firearm related content and events. This past year alone, they hosted a pancake breakfast fundraiser for Stonington Elementary School’s Special Olympics team and raised $4K for their cause!

The Richton Park Rifle and Pistol Club first bought their own rifle in 1892. It was called the "Richton Park Rifle and Pistol Club No 1." The club's second rifle was purchased in 1903. It was called the "Richton Park Rifle and Pistol Club No 2." In 1911, the club purchased their first pistol. It was called the "Richton Park Pistol No 1."
Richton Park is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 31,822 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The name comes from Richtofen, an inhabitant of the town who contributed $5 to a local school fund in 1868. The first settler in Richton Park was John Richardson who arrived in 1837. He and his family farmed land near what is now Elmhurst Avenue and Western Avenue. In 1840, he built what is now the Richardson House on West 112th Street. One of Richton Park's most important residents was Daniel Hines who served as Mayor of Chicago from 1865 to 1870 and again from 1872 to 1880. In 1871, Jens Jensen started a grocery store on State Street near Elmhurst Avenue which became one of the largest grocery stores in America at that time. In 1925, The Armour Company opened its first American office in Richton Park when it moved from Hoffman Estates into new facilities on Wabash Avenue just east of Center Road (now known as North Holland Drive). After World War II many factories closed down and many people left for better opportunities in other parts of the country or abroad; however, some families stayed behind and continued to grow crops and raise livestock until they decided to sell their land after the war ended. By 1970 there were only 8 households living in Richton Park while over 25 businesses had been established since its incorporation into Village form July 1st 1920 through ordinance #402 by Mrs Jane Addams & Mr Edward Coughlin both Freeholders then Trustees Of village Of Richton Park Incorporated under Act No: 7-1920

Richton Park is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 9,828 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The village was organized on November 3, 1892 from parts of Hinsdale and Westchester townships. The name comes from Rich Township in McHenry County, Indiana. The first post office was established at Richton on December 11, 1892. In 1907 the village had a population of 1,321 and a school for Kindergarten through Eleventh Grade was built. In 1912 an addition to the school house housed a garage and other buildings for the village's industry; this garage still stands today as one of the few remaining buildings in town that predate World War II. In 1949 Richton Park became home to Apple Incorporated which operated one of Cook County's largest computer companies until it closed its doors in 1997 following antitrust problems with Intel Corporation In October 2006 Richton Park voters approved incorporation into the City of Chicago effective January 1st 2007 Richton Park remains an unincorporated community with controls over limited transportation services by proprietorship only
