Richton Park is a city in Richton County, Illinois, United States. The population was 382 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first settler in Richton Park was Levi Coffin, who arrived on a wagon train from Kentucky in 1837 and named his land "Richmond." In 1847, John Nixon opened a small grocery store near Randolph and North streets in what is now known as Nixon's Grocery Store complex. The town of Richmond was incorporated on November 1, 1848. In 1856, Richard Richardson purchased 640 acres (240 ha) of land west of Richmond for $10 per acre ($ ). Richardson built the first official schoolhouse in Richton Park which he called "Richmond High School". He also donated land to the city for a public park and street system. In 1861, Abraham Lincoln Wayman founded Wayside Chapel which would later become First Baptist Church. In 1865, James Hinchcliffe organized Richardson Township into a civil township with himself as its first treasurer and clerk. On January 1st of that year it became an unincorporated community under the name "Richmond". On May 10th 1886 by order of President George Washington Hedges (1841-1924), all Unincorporated areas east of Prospect Avenue were placed within one new township - Richton Park Township - named after President Hedges' father-in-law Major General Samuel Jepson Marshall (1784-1858). This move allowed more people to live close to each other without having to leave their homes for miles or even cities! At that time there were only about 100 people living in Richton Park Township alone! In 1912 the boroughs of Arlington Heights north and south of Michigan Avenue were consolidated into one municipality with their own police force called the 'Arlington Heights Police Department'. This made it easier for residents to get around town because now they had one central location where they could go if they needed help getting around town or just wanted some peace and quiet while away from everything else happening in their larger municipality! The old Arlington Heights Police Department building still stands today across from Roosevelt Road inside what used to be Unity Savings Bank!

Richton Park was a small town in Illinois that was located on the banks of the Fox River. The town was chartered in 1836 and grew rapidly after it was chosen as the site for a new, larger city. In 1853, Richton Park became the first city in Illinois to be founded by women when Mrs. John G. Herron donated land to make room for a municipal building. The city flourished until the mid-19th century, when there were several factors which led to its decline including low levels of population growth and an increase in manufacturing jobs in nearby cities. In 1898, Richton Park merged with neighboring towns Moline and Rockford to form the City of Chicago.
