Richton Park is located in the city of Chicago, Illinois and it has been a part of that community for since 1881. The community was named after General John Richardson, who had donated land to the city. Richton Park is a census-designated place that covers an area of 9 square miles. As of the 2010 census, its population was 30,149. The town started as a farming community and as gunsmiths began to be established there, they developed their trade around turning cannons and pistols into firearms hats. In 1907, the first rifle range in America was opened in Richton Park by American Rifleman George Armstrong Custer. Over time, many other businesses have joined in this thriving industry including a grocery store and post office. In 1922, Richton Park incorporated as a municipality with its own government. This gave residents more control over their lives and created opportunities for economic development within the town itself as well as outside of it. Today, much of what makes up Richton Park’s history can be found through various museums and historical sites within town limits which offer variety on both local history and firearms related items from before 1903 to modern times!

The village was founded in 1892 by John Richton and his wife Lucy. In 1924, it was annexed by the city of Chicago. The Village had two schools until 1957 when they were merged into one school district which currently operates three schools: North High School, South High School, and Richton Park Junior/Senior High school. A new elementary school building was completed in the fall of 2009 and will serve as the district's only high school. The first graduating class from North High School (grades 9-12) graduated in May 2010. In addition to its namesake park - Richton Park also contains several smaller parks including Maplewood Park; Dearborn Hills; Wrigley Field; Forest Preserve; Sheridan Road West; and Yorkville Gardens which are all within walking distance of each other. Additionally there are several tennis courts (including one with a synthetic surface), basketball courts (with full size hoops), an outdoor pool, as well as multiple playgrounds for children ages 0-5 years old as well as a number ofMidsize Soccer Courts that can accommodate turf or artificial surfaces depending on weather conditions. There is also a largeentertainment complex with multiple theaters including Regal Cinemas beneath the village hall complex housing movie theaters across various genres including 3D IMAX Movies ($4 for general admission), 4K Ultra HD presentations ($8 for premium seating),and IMAX 3D shows ($10 for premium seating). Finally, there is also an attached grocery store with gas pumps inside the building along with several convenience stores nearby if needed should events arise beyond what can be easily accommodated at home or at work during normal business hours!

In 1951, after years of development work by local officials including Mayor John Fetterman and industrialists Edwin Jaffe and Harry Wexler,Richton Park became one of the first towns in Illinois to be designated an urban center with a high school campus providing important services such as retail shopping for residents as well as public health clinics. Today, Richton Park is still home to many businesses including several large retailers such as Sears Holdings Corporation (Sears), JCPenney Company (JCPenney), Macy’s Inc., Ford Motor Company (Ford), AIG headquarters (), Bank One Corporation (), Honda Motor Co., Ltd., Intel Corp., movie theaters ()and sporting events like the Chicago Cubs baseball season (). Additionally, it has seen increased residential development with over 100 homes having been built since 2000 (). Overall, Richton Park has continued to grow throughout its history while also maintaining its rural feel which makes it an interesting case study for how suburbanization can lead to positive consequences for communities like ours.
