Quincy, Illinois is a town of about 23,000 people located in McLean County. It was first settled in 1836 and has been an agricultural center since the early 1800s. In 1865, Quincy became the capital of Illinois and it retains that title to this day. The town’s nickname is “The Garden State” because of its many parks and gardens. Gun protection history in Quincy began with the formation of the Quincy Rifle Club in 1892. That club compiled a handbook on gun safety which served as a model for other rifle clubs throughout the state. Since then there have been several attempts at regulation of firearms through various laws including passing assault weapons bans and universal background check systems However no comprehensive answer exists as to why these particular measures have not worked or been effective at preventing mass shootings across America

On October 7, 1899—the date that Queen Victoria visited Chicago to open her new City Hall—Quincy hosted a large delegation from London which included Sir John Aird and Lord Tweedsmuir among others for talks about British trade with Chicago One of Quincy’s most famous residents was Houdini who performed several illusions here including his infamous escape from prison while under sentence of death by hanging at Sing Sing Correctional Facility concurrently he also taught magic tricks at Englishman’s School where he entertained many dignitaries during prohibition era In recent years there has been much redevelopment going on throughout downtown Quincy with several high-end hotels being built along with new stores and restaurants In addition to its rich history and cultural significance Quincy continues to serve as an excellent place to live today with plenty of opportunities for employment growth
Quincy was founded by the Choctaw people in 1777. The town was named for General Anthony Quinn, who had led an uprising against English rule in the area. In 1818, Quincy became a city and was renamed Quincy after President John Quincy Adams.
