In the early 1800s, Prospect Heights was a thriving town in Illinois. It had a small population and few businesses, but it was home to some of the most influential people in the area. The town was also home to gun enthusiasts. Some of these people were able to get their hands on some of the most advanced firearms available at that time.
Prospect Heights is an unincorporated community in Kane County, Illinois, United States. It lies on the western border of the city of Chicago and straddles its east-west boundaries. The ZIP code for Prospect Heights is 62426. As of the 2010 census, the population was 5,898. The first settlers in what became Prospect Heights were Methodists who came from Mount Vernon, Virginia in 1815. They arrived on a small raft and named their new settlement after their patron saint, Saint Peter. The first post office was established in 1835 and was called "Pleasant Hill." In 1847, John Pritzker bought 640 acres (2 km²) of land at the southern edge of today's Prospect Heights from Walter Browning. Pritzker built a large home there which he named "Prospect Hill". In 1870 and again in 1871, he sold additional land to other settlers. By 1913, prospectors had discovered oil reserves near what is now downtown Chicago and started buying up property along Lake Michigan shoreline for development into what would become Prospect Heights. During World War II many local businesses closed as production shifted to nearby Joliet or Kenilworth because of rationing affecting everything from materials to people themselves; however some residents did manage to keep their homes and businesses going during that time by using whatever resources they could find within walking distance or by hiring others who lived nearer to work (many people still do this today). Some examples include: Mr./Ms.'s Nursery & Bakery (which continues to operate), Mrs./Mr.'s dry goods store/library (closed 2006), Mr./Ms.'s candy store/cafeteria (closed 2007), Mrs./Mr.'s gas station/restaurant (closed 2009). One major business that survived Prohibition but closed down due to lack of customers was Joes Pizza located just north of current day Wacker Drive on Halsted Street next door to Park East School District Headquarters before becoming a pizza place known as Joe's Sports Bar later renamed Aftershock BBQ until it too closed circa 2018 when zoning changes made it difficult for restaurateurs like myself OpenTable dine-in only permit service with utensils such as forks so please enjoy your burgers while you can!

Prospect Heights is a neighborhood in the city of Chicago, Illinois. It was established in 1881 as a bonus district for white men working off their debts to certain businesses in the then-black neighborhoods of the South Side. The area gradually assimilated into black society and culture, although some remains are still inhabited by descendants of white immigrants who arrived before Prospect Heights was developed. The first white settlers were prospectors looking for new minerals on the Near North Side. By 1881, many blacksmiths and other sorts of merchants had also moved to Prospect Heights from areas such as Englewood and West Englewood. Many African Americans worked at these businesses until they were forced out or integrated into local communities through various forms of discrimination, such as zoning changes that kept them segregated from whites. In 1916, Mayor John Hynes created a new borough called “Prospect Heights” within the City of Chicago to include allwhite neighborhoods east of Lake Michigan which had been closed off by race riots following World War I. This move ignored residents' wishes and amounted to another form of segregation against blacks in Chicago's inner city population. Although this borough continued to exist until 1967 when it merged with nearby Hyde Park into the newly formed city of Chicago, Prospect Heights retains its own unique history and culture that has made it an important part of Chicagoland history
