prospect Heights is an unincorporated community in DuPage County, Illinois, United States. It is located east of the Chicago metropolitan area on a small branch of the Fox River. The population was 1,828 at the 2000 census. Prospect Heights was named for the Prospect Hill estate which served as a model for many later homes in the community. The first settler in prospect Heights was Lewis and Clark Appleton who built a cabin near what is now Polo Grounds in 1836. Other early settlers included John Nicholson (1830-1911), George Henneman (1846-1927), Charles Sells (1860-1937), and Abram J. Levy (1864-1920). The first store in prospect Heights opened its doors on April 3, 1876, by J.P. Morgan and his brother John Morgan Sr.. The store was operated by Elisha Peck and Edward Crouse until 1880 when they merged with Wm & Mary Kapp to form Peck Brothers Meat Market Inc.. They continued to operate their own store until it closed in 1906; however, it reopened as Armour's grocery store in 1907 before closing again twenty years later. In 1916, Armour merged with General Mills to form American Greetings Corporation and soon thereafter began purchasing all of the local grocery stores including Peck Bros., among others; Mr Fenton became general manager of Armour's Grocery Store effective July 1st 1916 after buying out Wm & Mary Kapp’s interest therein. The last major update to this building took place on October 5th 1984 when Armour announced that their old building would finally be demolished and replaced with a more modern structure joined to adjacent Smith Park Lands thus creating what is known today as " Prospect Heights." The land that makes up Prospect Heights has been through many different iterations over its history; starting out as part of Fox Township where farmers cultivated corn, wheat, oats and other crops; eventually being sold off to various developers who specialized in constructing housing estates or strip malls.; Finally becoming part of DuPage County where it current sits today thanks largely to annexation by nearby Skokie Village back in 1997 following decades of efforts by residents withinDu Page Countyscholarship programto have their say on whether or not this area should become an incorporated community like neighboring Elmhurst or be annexed into Skokie Village itself

Prospect Heights, Ill. is a town in Hamilton County, Illinois, United States. The population was 5,914 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Prospect Heights was founded in 1892 by George and Martha Quayle as a small farming community on the edge of the city of Chicago. In 1957, it became one of Illinois' first towns to be designated as an " enlightened township." Prospect Heights contains many examples of early 20th century architecture including a house built by George Ambler in 1909 that has been preserved and is now on display at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's library. Other notable buildings include liveries factory located on State Street and home to Armour Glass Company which manufactured art glass from 1903 until 1982; American Botanical Gardens; and City Hall which was completed in 1912 and expanded twice more (1925-29 and 1945-51). In recent years, Prospect Heights has undergone several renovations including new schools, libraries, businesses, and residences. One such renovation project included adding a new park called Park North which opened in 2013 adjacent to the former Armour Glass factory site. Another project involved renovating City Hall into an energy efficient building that opened in 2016.
Prospect Heights was founded in 1892 as a small village on the west side of Chicago. The population of Prospect Heights grew rapidly during the early 20th century, and by 1922 it had reaching 100,000 residents. By 1933, the population of Prospect Heights had reached 350,000 people. The development of the Uptown area on the east side of Chicago caused a decline in population in Prospect Heights, but it still continued to grow rapidly in size and importance. In 1965, Prospect Heights became part of the city of Chicago.
