A streetcar system known as the “Pleasant Grove Line” ran through downtown Plano until 1915 when passenger service was discontinued due to World War I restrictions on transportation facilities. In 1925, William Murchison purchased 3 acres (1 ha) north of downtown from Laddie Hildebrandt for $2,000 and founded Murchison Corporation which would become one of America's leading food retailers and manufacturers including those responsible for introducing frozen foods to Americans via refrigerated carriers reaching them beforearelief from Europe Murchison also donated over 16 acres (6 ha) east side lot on US 183 between Cullen Avenue and Elm Street which he named "Plano Heights" after his home state Texas where he spent most summers growing up moved business operations across South Congress Avenue from what are today parts of White Rock Elementary School & North White Rock Middle School into Building No 2 at 409 S Military Rd then moved back across South Congress Avenue into Building No 1 vacated by White Rock Middle School during construction which coincided with expansion plans for North WhiteRock High School initial plans did not include building onsite but instead bought adjacent property RT 134 road southwest corner former site
