Plano, Illinois is a town of over 60,000 people located in the Champaign-Urbana metropolitan area. It was founded in 1853 by John H. Richardson as a small community on the banks of the Kankakee River. The town quickly grew and by 1870 it had a post office, store, and school. In 1892 Plano had its first gunnery range and in 1912 it became an incorporated city. In 1933 the city adopted a resolution designating May 25th as "Gun Sight Day" in memory of Mayor Edward Egan who died that year after being shot at close range with a shotgun while on his way to pick up some flowers for his wife

Plano, Illinois is a city in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex of Texas. It is the seat of Richardson County and was founded on November 3, 1875, as a railroad town on the west side of Plano Creek. The city proper was platted on December 15, 1876, by J. C. Campbell and A. H. Goodnight. By 1907 it had over 20,000 residents and was one of four cities in Richardson County to have a population over 100,000 (the others being Arlington Heights, Dallas and Garland). The Cotton States Railroad reached Plano in 1893; it became an important transportation hub for the area until the early 1900s when railways were replaced by automobiles and buses. In 1910 plans were made to move the city's oil refinery to Fort Worth due to its location near two major oil refineries but this proposal was never ratified because Fort Worth became well known for its cotton industry which continued to be strong through World War II. During World War II Plano grew rapidly as an American military center with large numbers of soldiers stationed at nearby Fort Worth Army Air Field (now Wright-Patterson AFB) as part of Project Mockingbird where radar technology was developed for use in Allied air campaigns against Nazi Germany. However after the war ended many soldiers left Plano for other locations such as Los Angeles or New York City while others chose to stay and rebuild their careers in post-war America while some moved back into Plano permanently after various changes in government policy brought about suburbanization across much of Texas following World War II developments nationally including conservative control over local government institutions leading to denser populations within limited areas although plans had been made before then for urban growth within historical limits). The downtown core slowly lost most if not all its commercial activity during this period although redevelopment has taken place since then around Paseo de la Reforma park which includes several high end shops/restaurants/ movie theaters etc.). A number of interesting projects are currently underway or planned in Plano including: 1) An open space concept called Garden Reach that would encompass 2 acres (0 hectares) northeast of downtown along I-635 next door to Alliant Energy Stadium—an ambitious plan by developer Roger Dean that would create 1 million square feet (100,000 m2)of mixed use space with gardens, parks, community centers and schools; 2) A $160 million project led by billionaire Jay Lenora Unterberger called Civic Village that would include dozens of apartment structures totaling 624 units ranging from studio apartments up unto three bedroom “houses”; 3) A $243 million renovation/expansion project led by Arcelle Realty Group LLC called Southpark that would include 594 housing units total consisting mainly of market rate condos; 4) A $250 million expansion/renovation project led by Hunt Developments LLC called Park Lane Yards that would add 625 multiunit buildings comprising both rental units and condominiums throughout five blocks surrounding I-35W between Elm Street eastward and San Antonio Drive northward with entrances at State Highway 377 northwest thereof; 5) An ambitious plan announced last year by Mayor David Lohr called Water Front District consisting mainly of 123 acres (50 hectares), encompassing portionsadjacenttoDallas Harbor Ship Channelcontaining 800 boat slips yielding enough water surface areafor eight Olympic swimming pools providing artificial turflanding padsandswimmingpoolsandcarbonfilterlakes etc.—one potential airport link allowing easy access from anywhere outside Tyler county even into neighboring counties should events like Olympics take place there—attracting attention from airlines who have expressed interest in using the airport primarily for passenger operations rather than cargo operations like those now done at DFW International Airport);

Plano, Illinois was founded on October 16th, 1836 by John P. Ryan and James H. Fenton. The city has a population of over 122,000 people today and is the seat of Dallas County. Plano has been called the " largest town in Texas" and one of the " fastest-growing cities in America". The city's history can be traced back to its founding when two men - John P. Ryan and James H. Fenton - decided to establish a new settlement in what is now Dallas County, Illinois. The early settlers were farmers who had come from Ireland and Scotland. They built their homes around a small creek that later became known as Plano Creek Road because it connected them to other settlements in the area. In 1836, John P. Ryan donated land to the City of Plano for $2 million dollars which made it the first municipal land donation in Texas history. The City of Plano was organized on November 15th, 1836 under the name of "Dallas Township". On July 1st, 1837, Dallas Township became part of Dallas County when it was created from parts of Travis County and Galveston County. On October 16th, 1836, John P. Ryan and James H Fenton established what would become Plano with a population of just 10 people! It wasn't until 1840 that plans were put into place for an incorporated community – something that would eventually happen on May 12th, 1852 when Patrick O'Malley purchased 2 acres near present-day Azle Avenue for $5 per acre! By 1850, however, only 5 people lived in Plano; most notably Pat O'Malley who owned most of what is now downtown Plano! In 1861/1862 during Kansas’s American Civil War (the war to end slavery), many Texans enlisted in “the cause” including many residents of Dallas Township who chose to fight for their home state rather than against their fellow Americans! Many planters also migrated eastward during this time as more open markets developed throughout Missouri & Kentucky (a free state). plans continued being drawn up for incorporation while residents awaited word from those fighting abroad but never materialized due to hostilities happening nearer home…. Finally on May 12th following intense discussion within city council & citizens there was approval granted by vote as well as issuance Of Certificate Of Incorporation dated November 3rd 1865….. Plans finally took shape after years worth planning……………… Today nearly 125 years later we can say with certainty that if it wasn't for World War II & efforts by our military troops our community may not exist at all!
Plano was founded in 1868 when the railroad company, The Chicago and Northwestern, built a track through the town. In 1887, the city of Plano became one of the first in Illinois to be incorporated as a city. In 1914, Plano annexed the neighboring village of Cullerton. In 1925, The University of Texas at Austin opened its doors in Plano and soon made it an important center for education in northern Illinois. In 1969, The Dallas Cowboys moved from Arlington to Plano and continue their football dynasty that has lasted until this day.
