The original name chosen for the new city was "Garland Heights" but this name was changed due to objections from other villages that had also been incorporated locally including Irvington and Richardson which felt they had been given an unfair advantage over their southern counterparts In 1916 it became clear that Dallas needed more housing so plans were made for Arlington Heights to be annexed intoDallas rather than stay independent However this annexation attempt failed when strong protest signatures were gathered against it from citizens of Arlington Heights including future US President George H.W Bush Sr In 1920 plans were made for Plano proper to be annexed intoDallas when all other municipalities within Dallas County came under one roof

Post founded Plano as a village on the banks of the White River near modern day McKinley Park Cemetery after years of speculation about what would become of Taylor Township east of him on High Street between Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue northward to Elmira Road eastward to Fifth Avenue southward which he had bought from Abram Ising in 1858 for $100 cash only to realize that nothing would come of it because there were already too many settlers living there already! On December 15th 1870 during one weeklong period with over 500 people living in twelve different settlements along Apple Creek adjacent to each other over three miles wide within two days following General David Hunter's order authorizing them all be moved into tenement homes together under conditions that they should erect fences around their villages so that no animals could escape and if any did not meet these requirements they would be punished by being sold off at auction like cattle! A total team effort resulted with seven men building fences costing $3 per foot high enough then top wire fence posts weighing 8 pounds ($48/meter) high enough then chain link fencing(5 feet 6 inches (1 meter)) tall enough then barbed wire fencing(2 feet 5 inches (0.8 meters)) both sides 25 feet wide at least! Only one man who failed to meet his end price! There are several stories circulating about howPost got his start as an entrepreneur; some say he found buried treasure near Carbondale which caused him to start burying coins before getting interested in real estate; others claim he built wagons using screwcaps instead o metal nails so that carts could pull heavy items such as furniture down steep hillsides; still others say he learned how to do stockade construction while working on behalf of Nathan Bedford Forrest Jr., soon thereafter becoming known as "the father of American real estate." As late as 1916 planters were still having hundreds more acres plowed than they were planted!, making up nearly half the total area grown statewide during those years according to US Department Of Agriculture records
