From 1913 until he death in 1928 Harry Wiens served as Mayor pro tem for Dallas County during that time period before becoming mayor effective January 1st 1928 succeeding J C Floyd who had been elected Lieutenant Governor concurrent with his mayoral term! In 1916 then Mayor Charles E Brownell placed asphalt sidewalks on Main Street extending North from US Highway 36W to become known as “Plano Boulevard” following US Highway 90W running concurrently through downtown Dallas while still routed southbound parallel to Interstate 35E just West of Center Drive - quite an unusual situation at that time given how busy streets near downtown were currently including Elm Avenue/I-635E now Route 56 & Elmhurst Boulevard!!! With years growth moving more towards services & jobs rather thanresidential development such as Shopping Centers Planned Oak Park would like today past all new construction or major reroute or closure... without any loss or inconvenience to existing residents!!! Today we enjoy beautiful parks like White Sands Beach Resort Golf Course off Lake Worth Parkway right next door
