The store had an arsenal of more than 60 rifles, shotguns, handguns, grenades, bombs and other weapons. In 1962 the Plainfield Armory closed its doors for good after over 130 years in business. It was one of the last firearms stores open in Illinois before the state became a gun free zone in 1994.
