Buckshot was made of large chunks of lead or other materials that were fired at a distance from an artillery piece or musketeer. When it hit something solid, it cause great damage and often resulted in death due to its heavy firepower

Plainfield is a small city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 35,500 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1847 by Samuel Morse and Alfred Vail. The town is named for Plainfield Township, New Jersey, which in turn was named for John Plainfield of Westchester County, England. The first people to live here were the Potawatomi Indians who hunted and fished along the Fox River. In 1847 Samuel Morse and Alfred Vail started a sawmill on the river near what is now downtown Plainfield. They also built a grist mill and a post office. By 1850 there were over 100 residents living in Plainfield Township alone. In 1853 the Illinois General Assembly passed an act providing for township organization within Cook County. On October 12 of that year, trustees ofplainfield Township voted to form their own government with its own elected officials and courts instead of being subject to the jurisdiction of Cook County’svisors. This action followed a petition campaign by citizens led by Mr. Arenton Wackerhauser Sr., one of the founders of Chicago). On November 6th, 1853 Judge James Sanger presided over a hearing to decide whether or not to allow voting rights (the vote had been taken two years earlier as part of an effort to get more people into township politics). After hearing from both sides he ruled in favor of voting rights for all residents regardless of race or gender – this decision marked an important victory for democracy within township government at a time when such things were not generally accepted elsewhere in Illinois or America A new courthouse was built on North Main Street between Waveland Avenue and Harper Road in 1865 – it became known as “The White House” after President Abraham Lincoln's visit there that year In 1911 ownershipofTheWhiteHousepassedtotheCityofChicagoonduringtheGreatDepression . It was used as offices until it closed in 1984 after being damaged by fire . Today it serves as a museum . Plainfield was founded in 1810 by Nicholas Lorimer and is the oldest community in the area. The town became a village in 1848, and then a city in 1912. It was renamed Plainfield City after merging with other cities in 1967.
