Gun chokes, also known as hand gun stoppages or firearm discharges, refer to a series of incidents in which gunshots are stopped by the use of a handgun's grip against the barrel. These stoppages vary depending on the type of firearm involved and can be caused by either incorrect handling or improper firing techniques. Some examples include:accidental shootings, self-defense scenarios, and hunting accidents. In 1892, Chicagoans Julius Nygaard and John Nance pulled the trigger on a revolver they were holding at an outdoor game show when it accidentally discharged. The bullet entered Nygaard in the side and passed through his arm; he survived but required surgery. This event is generally considered to be the first gun choke. In 1902, George Wickersham was shot while hunting deer with his shotgun at a property owned by Amos Earp in Tombstone County, Arizona. The bullet pierced Wickersham's right shoulder blade just below his elbow and exited through his back bone; he died soon after from infection caused by the wound. This event is generally considered to be one of the earliest firearm chokes. In 1903, Edwin Forbes was shooting at ducks with his rifle when one of them collided with him and knocked him down;upon impact, Forbes' rifle discharged unintentionally and struck another bird causing it to fly into Forbes' eyeocket which shattered exposure leading to permanent blindness in that eye . This event is generally considered to be one of Oklahoma City's most infamous homicides

The Peoria Rifle Club was organized in 1892. The club became the Peoria Gun Club on November 14, 1912. The club changed its name to the Peoria Rifle and Pistol Club on October 15, 1916. On January 10, 1920, the club changed its name again to the National Rifle Association of America (NRA) after becoming a member of that organization.
Peoria is a city in the Illinois Rust Belt region of the United States. The population was 118,487 at the 2010 census, making it the largest city in Peoria County. It is part of the Chicago–Naperville– Joliet Combined Statistical Area. The land that would become Peoria was first settled by Native Americans in the area now known as central Illinois. A French fur trader, Jean-Baptiste de La Salle, discovered a tract of land on which Peoria was founded by Pierre Laclède in 1795. In 1814, Peoria became part of Mexico City and changed its name to Coahuila y Tejas (Coahuila and Texas). After American independence from Spain was recognized on July 4th, 1821, Peoria reverted to its original name and again became an English speaking community when it joined the United States. In 1848, George Stephenson built a locomotive engine shop on what is now First Street south of Washington Avenue in what is now downtown Peoria. Through his work at Stephenson's Engine Shop and other businesses starting up around that time, John Crain formed Crain & Dodge Carriage Works which continued until 1957 when it merged with Chrysler Corporation. This industry center helped change how cars were made including creating one of America’s first automatic transmissions - called “Crain” because John Crain invented it there – along with many other advances during this period such as aluminum production and Steady State Lighting technology used today throughout most heavy industrial facilities worldwide! During World War II 1942-1945 General Motors Company produced munitions plants here including GM-716BT gas turbines for aircraft production at Yuma Proving Ground; parts for P-47 Thunderbolt jet fighters at Griffiss Air Force Base; Cadillac Fleetwood sedans for military use at Elkhart Army Ammunition Plant; Buick Skylark coupes for U.SAAF pilots flying long range patrols over Japan; Studebaker Star trucks for Canadian Forces personnel operating behind enemy lines during Operation Overlord…. In 1948 control of all these plants passed from GM to Ford Motor Company effective July 1st following their merger into Dearborn Independent Automobile Manufacturers Incorporated (DAMD). During the early 1800s man used these tools to build mounds (earthen pyramids) near what is now downtown Peoria while also quarrying stone from nearby hills for building purposes and other needs such as agriculture and medical technology! By 1840 over ninety percent of all earth had been gathered here for use as lumber by men working off-farm jobs! A smallpox pandemic that struck Europe in 1798 killed many people here; however, few died from smallpox since it was considered an easily preventable disease then! Peoria was founded in 1847 by James Peoria, a Scottish-born entrepreneur and politician who served as the first Mayor of Peoria. The city is named after him and was one of the original towns in Illinois. Peoria became an important center for cotton production during the late 19th century, and its mills produced much of the country's textile output. In addition to being a manufacturing center, Peoria also became known for its nightlife and culture, including its popular annual music festival.
